Because yesterday was such a nice day, I decided to shun all the local spots and try somewhere a bit more remote. I looked at the charts and found a nice looking target. After picking up Rowan, we headed over to West(ish) Devon.
An hour later we arrived at the spot. There was a fair bit of swell running, but we were diving the otherside of the headland so we were a bit sheltered. A walk through the fields, down the cliffs and we were there. The water was clear and refreshing after the tab down in the sun. We were diving a shallow water shipwreck, so were on the lookout for some decent pollock.
There were lots of places to look too. Sections of ship, hull and deck plates, engine blocks and hatch covers all providing brilliant swim throughs. There were even some complete rooms to explore inside. But no fish, except for a few small pollock. Lobster hunt instead then. Rummaging through the gullies and under sections of hull plate turned up two decent lobsters, and a small one that was completely rust coloured.
We bagged them, put them in a rock pool and went back for a better look around. In a gully was three lengths of brass pipe; further out, a couple of valve tops and half a porthole. We got these to shore, but by now the wind had changed and swell was up, so after four hours we called it a day. Loaded down with scrap and with Rowans lobster pinching him, it made for an interesting, if somewhat tiring walk back up the cliffs.
