Iya, since you asked...
I had barely entered the water and was in about 10' of depth when this fish approached me without a care in the world. It was a very calm, glassy, empty afternoon in the kelpbed. Fortunatley I had already loaded my weapon in waist deep water just in case, and my finger was on the trigger, ready to go. My shot stoned this fish, I put my hand in its gill, and criused back to shore. I am very thankful to have had the opportunity recently to see these fish, and to feed my family.

Not sure if this is a dead thread or not. Move to the gallery if needed, although I kinda like the free-form nature of this current thread. Im hoping to see some other contributions soon, but until then...This is a 43# seabass shot friday evening. My shot was well placed, and the fish really didnt fight too much, although Im pretty sure it bit my calf while I was trying to subdue it.

Where are you spearing these fish? I live in northeastern USA and I never heard of a white sea bass untill last year when I started reading this forum.
I have striped bass here that get up to about 40-50 lbs (sometimes larger) but my biggest is only about 30 lbs.
How big do those fish get and what type of depth do you have to go to spear them?

RIphish- I believe the record size for these fish is 83lbs. They are mostly caught around kelpy areas in southern california and northern Mex, although I am sure people see them elsewhere. That fish was shot on a choppy day with poor vis in about 15 feet of water.
