heading back to newhaven for an evening dive tonight, will be there around 7 if anyone interested??

I would love to but have dinner plans :S.

Oh well 4 days in Dorset this bank holiday, just hope the weather will be kind.

Hi Liam,

Sorry - no can do today - let us know how you get on and what the vis is like. Wonder if Mr lobby's still there?

Safe diving.

thatl be the last of vis in sussex for a while, just got back from newhaven and a drive along the coast, its all churned up in the wind, no chance of a dive for a good few days i wouldnt imagine.

just looked, it was a solid stream of muddy water coming all the way down the side of the arm, water was soupy all the way home along seaford and eastbourne.
it better clear up soon, i just orderd a new RA 70 just for there!!!

Hi Liam,

With rain forecast, Newhaven might be mucked up for quite a few days (estuary). It's a pretty sensitive spot when it comes to viz being an estuary, a port and with BIG tides. It's been so poor in the past that Wyvern and I had written it off until last Saturday. But having experienced it on a good day, I'm definitely up for giving it another go.

Might need to give it a good few days though....but at least tides are neapy at the mo.

Hey lads, anybody seen the sea today (Saturday) in Brighton?
I wonder, if there is still some vis, before it starts to rain tonight.

just dived newhaven again, cleaned up on pollock, a couple of edible crabs were on the rocks easy to grab, but my catch bag was full. first time i dived without a float today as its punctured, dont know how some of you manage without a float!!
vis was great in the shelter of the arm, got in just over an hour before high tide got out just after tide changed, could see a good few meters, over rocks i could see the bottom and that was 6 meters away. same as before though, if you dive deeper than 8 or 9 meters vis is pretty poor.

Went to take a look at newhaven today. There were waves coming over the top of the harbour arm from the west. On the other side of the arm the water was calm and I wanted to go for a dive but it all seemed to be sealed off unless you have a boat. I hadn't brought mine! Does anybody know if there is a way to fish that section without swimming all the way around?!

I think the viz is shot to pieces all the way to Devon so there's not much hope left for this weekend!

I think it's a swim or boat as you say. Shame as there are steps going down...but they're all sealed off! :( Would be nice to have that side as well as the arm so you could choose depending on weather. So I guess the arm will be blown out for a few days at least then. Shame.

after all this rain and wind I think the viz is going to be buggered up but if next sunday anybody wants to go spearfishing, I'm up for getting my feet wet.

I'm up in Ireland during the week but I fly back on friday night.

Cheers guys,
Guy

hi guy, im off to scotland on friday so wont be around, cant imagine the vis is going to be great though im afraid. iv lost your number, (broke 2 phones in 2 weeks) so send me a text sometime and we can organise something when im back. whens the wife over??

Hello Liam, Enjoy your time upthere! My wife arrives from Brazil on the 22nd of June, so freedom only last a couple of more weeks :D

I tried sending you a text but I'm in Ireland and it didnt go thru, I'll PM you my number.

Cheers,
Guy

I'm flying back to the UK on Saturday morning - well up for a dive...except that I just checked the shipping forecast. Severe gale force 9 predicted for Friday. Even if it's a flat calm the viz will be horribly horribly chewed up. Happy to send a viz report from Brighton though!

Yeah, Newhaven will take a week to calm down after this I reckon. The wind and rain combi don't exactly do the arm any favours...
