Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
Heavy rain and storm yesterday but managed to get some hours in the water anyway.

A Mangrove Jack and a Needlefish was some of the catches

Good variety of fish where you live, what it your favourite to eat?

Another Cuda, bigger than the last one and i stoned it but sadly didnt brake the 4kg i was hoping it to be and instead landed on 3.8kg.

Saw a dogtooth tuna just before i shot this one so i hope to get one of those this weekend.

Sadly i havent had anymore tuna encounters :(

Headed out for a shoredive with a friend of mine yesterday, bumped into a scool of trevally's but most of them where smaller ones and i tried but didnt manage to get a good shot off at the sligthly bigger ones so ended up shooting the one swimming in the rear of the scool before they were gone and later on i shot a second smaller one and some other species as well.

Since i have a pretty small freezer i had to empty it on some meat from old catches to fit the new stuff in there. As always that means there will be a very happy staff at the local laundryshop. And i also always give some fresh ones for friends and my favorite beachshack.

Did another shoredive today. It started out pretty depressing, very murky water and big swells. Shot some needlesfishes, a small mullet and something else i dont know the name of.

After a few hours while swimming on the surface a 5-7kg spanish mackerel came cruising pretty fast at about 8 meters from behind and right below me. Dived down and was kicking as hell to keep up with it, when i came up 3 meters behind it got scared and started going even faster but i did have a slight angle on the side of it when coming up from behind so i took the shot but ofcourse missed it.

Dissapointed and ready to give up i got a nice sweetlips 10 minutes later which gave me a bit motivation to keep going. Another 10-15 minutes later while doing aspetto this African Pompano comes in from open water and turns its side to me at 3-4 meters.

It's my very first African Pompano and it is also the biggest fish i shot during a shoredive in Phuket so todays dive ended much better than i expected!!

Also got some nice pics sent to me today from a divw earlier this week so i'll add a few of them as a bonus :)

Not much interesting the past couple days, only fish at 1kg and less.

One of todays catches was a coraltrout, been a while since i shot one the last time. Made some sushi of it

I think i will start uploading my catches in this thread to keep it alive and it might encourage others to do the same.

I spear in Phuket/Thailand 2-4 days a week when the weather allows for it, now it's monsoon season so right now it is more like 2 days a week if im lucky.
Im a beginner and to be honest i dont catch alot of big fishes since i currently only shore-hunt and Phuket is kind of overfished.

Today i got myself a smaller grouper, chevron berracuda and some other specie i dont know the name of yet but it's good for eating, and also i got my second cuttlefish since i started spearing. I've never been a fan of cuttlefishes or squids in general(the last i one i shot i gave to a friend) but todays dinner changed my mind. I cut it up and brought it with me to the local restaurant and they made me some meals of fried rice and Tom Yum, very delicious!

Yummy:p

After 2 weeks of waiting to the winds/swells to calm down and the water to clear up we finally have spearable conditions on the island again.

Met up with a newfound divebuddy from SA and went for it, no big catches but a good feast. 3 trevally's, 3 emperors,1 coraltrout and a lobster was what we came back with.

Hi all - sorry for the long absence! Been doing some night dives with my lance - nice haul the other night. Made the last of the Trevalli into some pretty decent fish cakes last night. Didn't have to shoot the big lobster. Just went down and grabbed him! Biggest one I've had for a while too.

Not from today but my most recent dive. From top to bottom Moana (common goatfish) , Ta'ape (blue stripe snapper), small ene'nue (rudderfish), large ene'nue (rudderfish), hinalea (grandmother wrasse), and a pananu (star-eye parrotfish). Also got a nice spiny lobster but didn't get it in the picture. Made an awesome dinner all week.

Ok, so it is time for my first pic-post, let's see if I can get some pics up here via the web version of the forum... didn't work to well in Tapatalk, could not attach any pics at all. :/

Anyways, here's my recent catches. A couple of nice sargos (white seabream), a rofos (dusky grouper) and a few skaros (mediterranean parrotfish). They were all very tasty!
