Sorry guys but if the weather stays like this there is no way I am going to get Jane down there, especially as the festival is on in Weymouth.:rcard

My missus is making grumbling noises too!

But we'll see.

do you think the dive spot will be doable with these southerlys?

am I right in saying the dive is still on ?

bit of a long drive to stand in a carpark on my own :)

The event will still be on mate, as far as I know, as a few people have booked accomodation locally. Whether it will be diveable or not is another matter though - and there is only one way to find out about that!

I've pretty much committed myself to it - but I'm starting to get some dirty looks off the missus (who I've commited to it too! rofl).

It's pretty grim out there - Gaz do you know who's already down there and could you text them to find out what the conditions are like - Like Scott says its a long way to go to see a wet carpark!!

Exe Spearfishing, Dorset & Wessex Club dive

Guys,

Unfortunately we have had a first hand report from Paul Smith that Beer and Branscombe are not fit to dive. The winds have swung to South and SSW, which has chopped the water up. Paul is already in situ and says that there is no visibility with rough seas.

On behalf of all the clubs we apologise for any inconvenience caused to you.

Please inform anyone who may not see the forum of the postponed combined club dive.

We will look at an alternative date and will let you know soon.

Cheers

Paul

Thanks for the update, now to concentrate on a beer festival just up the road!! :friday

a bit disappointing chaps but hopefully well arrange again for the not so distant future?

i was looking forward to shooting motorbikes and packets of biscuits might have even had a glimse of a container fish?....rofl

Thank God for that!

I rather felt obliged to support the club by trekking down there to eat soggy burgers in a howling gale, without a hope of seeing the end of my spear in the brown soup.

Good call on cancelling it.

I'm sure the next attempt will produce glorious weather and crystal clear seas.

Durdle Door, Chesil Beach, Tom Browns (the best), Piddle Ale; just a selection of what went down tonight :friday now to sleep & snore!

good on you broughy just dont get caught with those scallops, bolt tail to lyme regis is a no take zone until the 1st of October.

Its a bylaw that covers July, August and September .

I phoned the fisheries last year to moan about scuba divers hauling sacks full out the bay in the middle of august ( yes Im a grass but they my scallops THEY ALL MINE I TELL YAH :) )

Personaly I think they should put a sign up on the beaches telling people about it, from what the guy was telling me on the phone the bylaw has been around for a long time.

Sounds fair enough, i dont suppose the few we had will have much of an inpact then but will bear it in mind and let people know, i am new to spearfishing this year and not from any type of fishing background so this is all new. How the hell do they enforce these rules ? And agreed they should put signs up
