Wessex Spearfishing Club 2009

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
This subject comes up every year , and without wishing to preach or spoil anybody's fun , it might be relevant to remind people of the possible consequences involved if you're caught landing scallops out of season .
The fine can be five thousand pounds .
The fisheries officers are willing to prosecute for as little as one scallop in certain circumstances . ( I think this depends on if you're a jerk or give them any lip or are abusive towards them .)
You can have all the gear involved confiscated , including boats , wetsuits , fins etc .
On top of all that , you give spearos a bad name , at a time when we need all the good PR we can get , SO DON'T DO IT .

This might be asking a bit much but have any of the really experienced guys thought about putting together a post that covers all this stuff. A document that could be printed off would be even better.
There must be loads of stuff that us newbies just do not know about and can land ourselves in the sheeroot if we get it wrong.
Even a list of things with an idea of where to find the detail would be good.
Are there any other places we can definately not fish?
Anything else that we cannot take other than the standrd minimum limits?
If you do not know something exists then you cannot begin to look for it.
Cheers Steve.

hi chaps ended up in A&E first thing monday morning with excruciating pain in the kidneys. turns out ive got an obstruction in my kidneys and had an op wed. had a bad allergic reaction to contrast dye that was injected and that kept me in longer as my face looked like id had the sh*t kicked out of me. got to have some stones removed in 2 weeks and a camera shoved in places your mother should have told you about.~( wont give you details.!) they kicked me out last night and im just surfing the morphine wave for a while.:t

Well glad you are on the mend now mate!

Get well soon, there's no vis so your not missing anything - unlike some happy shiny people in Devon!!!!

bluejuice , you poor ,poor sod . I asked my wife about you ( she's a urologist ) , and she said yep , kidney stones really hurt like hell .
It's a shame you don't have a chance to pass the stones ( I guess you've had a stent fitted ) , because she has some neat ideas to help , including very hot baths , vigorous exercise , like jogging or sex and drinking lots of beer , ( something to do with the hops ) .
So you have your consultation and the moment you've been dreading . " Um , whats my treatment going to be ? "
" Well , I think you should get completely plastered , have lots of energetic sex , then have a nice hot bath . "
Instead of that , she told me about the op' you're having , not something to discuss on an open forum , especially not one rated for thirteen year olds :) ( Involves blasting things with lazer beams I believe , shudder ! )
Seriously the operation is nothing to worry over , very standard , very easy , in fact she's doing two this afternoon , something of a doddle , apparently .
A real pity you had a reaction to the tracer though , quite common and sometimes very nasty , which begs the question . Why not use something else ?
Anyhow , you'll be fit and well , pain-free and back in the water in no time . If the wind dies back , that is :vangry .

Best wishes for a speedy recovery .
Regards ,
Dave .

well its time to pick a spot for tomorrows club dive again, any ideas as this SW wind has been blowin for days now ??? ;-(

yeah, its winter there and i bet its still better than the crap were having of late !!!

Only trouble is cant afford the petrol to Devon let alone the airfare to Aus lol :)
