Well, I did get out last night, no-one else could make it though, so was on me tod!
I found the viz to be surprisingly good, given the wind and the bloom, especially over the sand patches. Maybe 3/4 metres before the tide really started to run.
It seems that Buckshore was hosting the 1st annual 1lb Pollock gathering, because there were schools and schools of them, at one point maybe 200 or so around me on aspetto. They were just a bit too small to be worth bothering with and so I left them alone, but still fun to play with. Small pollock are near suicidal, often seem to hang as close to your spear tip as fishily possible!!
Plenty of sand eels around, small ones, I guess that's what the pollock were after. Water felt warm too - 13/14 degrees.
Guess what though, not a single glimpse of silver the whole dive...these bass are elusive b**gers.
Tried on the sand patches for flatties for about 45 mins. Nothing happening, so got out, but was a great dive nonetheless, just goes to show there's fun to be had somewhere, even when the wind's a-blowing.

Got in this morning about 8:30 for the high at a fishy location that will remain nameless. The vis was a poor 2-3m but even so i managed to bag these to beauties, within 5 mins of each other. The little one was 4.6lbs sans guts and the bigger one (also apres gutting) went 7.1lbs. Gutted them at the beach as the last one i bought home whole made a right mess and i ended up in the doghouse. My Kiwi buddy also bagged a nice mullet of about 4lbs.
Can you still enter FOM if they don't have the guts in? might give it another whirl (i noticed i got a sympathy vote last month......thanks to whoever that was.)

met one of you members at the inner harbour wall sandsford castle side whilst out hunting bass and he mantioned Deeperblue and the wessex club.........so here I am checking out whats going on!
New to spearfishing and diving so getting together with some likeminded fellows will no doubt improve my game.
New to the forum so having a little trouble navigating at the moment. How do I join this club if all are welcome?
