Wessex Spearfishing Club 2010

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
Viz in Durslton today was variable,I would say fishable (not great) but no fish seen at all!!!.
I ll try my best to join you tomorrow although I will be finishing quite late ,hopefully I will manage 1 h in the water.
see you

I'm up for it & I'm sure my missus will be, but maybe a little too far for a club dive.

If anyone has a private jet let me know & I'll sort you out for the beers, banana mamas, Mojitos or any cocktail for that matter.

Who needs the Maldives when we have the Costa Del Dorset.:D
That's a good one Scott Costa del Dorset roflroflrofl

Newtons cove should be well protected and fishable on the rising tide, will call my spearo buddy who works at the marine reseach lab that over looks the cove for viz report 2mrw to see if its a goer.

Castle cove is a nice spot but close to restricted areas such as the inner harbour walls, people can get quite funny about it possibly not the best place for the wessex club to show there skills!

Any news on vis report mate?

Hi all looks like newtons cove is washed out, brown waters as far as the eye can see!!

Spoke to Paul and he said the dive is cancelled good luck searching for some viz.

William Wallace: Oh, it's good Scottish weather, madam. The rain is falling straight down. Well, slightly to the side like.

Hi Guys, Currently in NZ following your blogs about spearing in blighty. I only got into out here a year ago and had a great summers spearing out here. I'm coming back to the UK with my Spearing kit and I'll be based around Lymington for a week so had hoped to come along for the club dive Tues 27th? I've had sell my float and line so as long as I can replace that I should be good to go.
Does anyone spear around the lymington area?

Hope to meet up when I'm back. keep that sun shining!

Martin

You are more than welcome to join us, but it may be a fair trek for you coming from Lymington as we sometimes go over to Weymouth. If the conditions are ok we may be out of Swanage area or Lulworth(which I haven't done this year). I haven't fished Lymington & I don't know who has, maybe some of the other guys may do it. I think there are a couple closer to you but in the Isle of Wight..........

Thanks for the reply. I have read a few threads which suggests that sandbanks is reasonable so I may head to the dive shop in Christchurch and ask for advice there depending on how far away you're diving.
I'll keep following the thread to see where you're planning and get in touch nearer the time re: whether I can away from work early enough.
I'll try and make the most of my time down there as I'm in London from October onwards.

If you are in London in October there is also the LIC, London International Club of spearfishing. I am not sure how much spearo you will do in October, but have a look there as well, just google them.

Or I believe some members are on here as well, just do a search.

What is up with this weather, it would have been nice to have a dive before i go away but looks like the weather has put an end to that.
Popped down sandbanks yesterday to look at the vis, it looked surprisingly good but the swell and tide was abit to rough to get my kit on.

Nothing around lymington, you might want to try hurst castle near keyhaven. Havnt tried it myself but it is worth a bash, dont go out near the spit, there is a raging current. Try the bay near the lighthouse.

Has anyone been out in the last day or 2 or is the weather washed all the vis out? any info would be great as i would like to get out rather soon.

Cheers
