I shuffled along the Purbecks yesterday, from Durlstone to Osmington, where I intended to get in. The viz looked so poor from the shore at Osmington that I turned around and headed back to Durlstone, where I jumped in. Viz was about 3 meters, which is more than do-able. I had a bass of about 2lbs from the bottom left hand corner of the bay, where the water was getting churned-up in the shallows, and there were quite a few more hanging around in that area.
Bumped into Sam ('Butcher Barnes') when I got out, and he had his first bass of the season, which he had taken from the bottom right hand corner of the bay, which he said had even better viz - congratulations on the bass, mate.
If you want viz this evening I would suggest Durlestone (with these strong tides and SW breeze I reckon Hengitsbury will be washed out).
I propose Durlestone this evening. I know that we go there a lot, but we are lucky to have this little spot, with a fairly stable bottom and sheltered from most of the westerlies, so close to Poole.
All the best,
Gaz.
