Hey guys, I would love to dive tomorrow, but I am not sure I should. I still have a bit of a fluidy ear from ear infection last week.
I may have to make the call tomorrow, plus I am up in Reading again & may not get back in the Bournemouth area till 6, so if it is Hengistbury Head then it should be fine, but anything further west then I may have to think more of it. That is if I my ear does not play up.

I am not familiar with diving around Hengistbury Head, is it off yaks & where do you go in? Looks like a rising tide from about 5pm onwards till about 10-ish............ at Christchurch entrance.

While I am here & will hopefully have the ears of the club, I will be up for quite a few dives next week after work seeing as my lass is away up in Wiltshire, starting from next Monday (2nd of August). So if anybody fancies a few dives after work next week give me a shout.

I shuffled along the Purbecks yesterday, from Durlstone to Osmington, where I intended to get in. The viz looked so poor from the shore at Osmington that I turned around and headed back to Durlstone, where I eventually jumped in, with the missus. Viz was about 3 meters, which is more than do-able. I had a bass of about 2lbs from the bottom left hand corner of the bay, where the water was getting churned-up in the shallows, and there were quite a few more hanging around in that area.

Bumped into Sam ('Butcher Barnes') when I got out, and he had his first bass of the season, which he had taken from the bottom right hand corner of the bay, which he said had even better viz - congratulations on the bass, mate.

If you want viz this evening I would suggest Durlestone (with these strong tides and SW breeze I reckon Hengitsbury will be washed out).

I propose Durlestone this evening. I know that we go there a lot, but we are lucky to have this little spot, with a fairly stable bottom and sheltered from most of the westerlies, so close to Poole.

All the best,

Gaz.

Hello people, my name is Ben and I live in Weymouth, have started trying to come to Tuesday nights when they are on and have been enjoying learning from others and diving new spots! Basicly I am posting this because I really want to start spearing Portland, off the bill and all the notorious spots I here about, but I want to go out with someone who has experience out there and understands the tides! I am comfortable diving to max of 15 and can breath hold bout 2 min. So if there is anyone who wants to take me under there wing then please get in contact! B

4 seems to be my lucky number at the moment...thats 3 times in 7 days.... its also the third time a monster has escaped me!!! just getting out and a bass like a bus cruised past me in 4 feet of water. I lined up, pulled the trigger and .........POW! nothing happened!!!!! nothing!:rcard:vangry the spear seems to have jammed in the mechanism with the trigger in the depressed position......any ideas how to get it out? brute force maybe but i don't want to break anything.

Sorry, won't be diving tonight as i've got to work. have fun.

Try hosing the trigger mechanism - it may have sand in it...

I would like to join you if that's ok? What time are you meeting and where exactly do you park? Is it free? :)

I Wouldn’t get to Durlstone before 6pm if I do turn up.
cheers

6 should be fine, people start turning up from 5.30 to 6.30pm.
Parking is free & you want Belle Vue Road. You should see a variety of guys parked up at the side either getting changed or ready to go.

If nobody is about, there is an access gate on the south eastern side of the road between some flats(see picture). Just follow down & go through a gap in the metal fence & just follow to the bottom.

It will be gone 6 by the time I get there, & Broughy is running late...
