Here's a video I found on YouTube; I don't know the swimmer. Anyone here? /QUOTE]

It says Pepe Salcedo as the film starts & Film by the Shy Guy at the end. I'd guess Pepe is the diver. Cool film & looks like great fun swimming with the seals :) Thanks for sharing Neurodoc.

Yes, Fredd...I know it's Pepe...you're just giving me some of my own medicine! but, who is Pepe? LOL...I always check youtube for new vids, as not everyone is on DeeperBlue. I hope to post my own videos one day. Did anyone see this article about an alternative to captivity? It's interesting also in that people in the freediving community who capture great video footage about dolphins and whales can share it with these folks who then can put it on these "walls" that many can then see. Perfect project for someone with a Lunocet, right? https://www.thedodo.com/community/HeatherMurphy/ocean-walls-captivating-people-795662375.html

That observation, 'not everyone is on DeeperBlue', can be lost on some of us who are still awaiting a visit from a Lunocet carrying stork. When we see that someone, who hasn' t posted here much or at all, showing off theirs then there is an understandable tendency to think, 'if they've got theirs then where's mine'. We have no idea where we sit in the pipeline of orders and we here on DeeperBlue might be the tip of an iceberg.

What makes matters worse, and I'm not making excuses for anyone, is that most of that info, number of orders, rate of shipping etc, would be business sensitive info and the sort of thing you wouldn't make public I'm guessing.

When we get info that turns out to be inaccurate it seems that, at best, it's an aspirational estimate rather than a realistic one. I've discovered from the 2014 thread that I'm X places down the line from someone else who has not got theirs either but thinking too much about where that gets me lies madness!

Realistic estimates are what I want, not aspirations.

After endless months of frustration, finally received the Lunocet pro !!!I have to say the finish is quite stunning!
Something that struck me is that the flukes are much more flexible than I expected towards the trailing edge, and towards the ends of the fin. Very different compared to what I'm used to on standard fibreglass monofins. I guess that's by design.

Went straight to my usual cycling shop, but unfortunately, they have run out of shoes my size, will have to wait about 1-2 weeks for stock!!!!!!

I'm going for a boa fastening mechanism for info.

More waiting frustration...!!! Not that I would have been able to test it this week end anyway, there's a small cyclone approaching the island!!!

On a side note, the fin was delivered with 2 cylindrical black inserts, and there seems to be corresponding slots on the peduncle for those. I'm assuming that's to make the spring tougher. The spring seems plenty stiff as is, so I'll see if I need those once I get to test the fin.

I'll give you my feedback as soon as I get these damn shoes.

Phillip, if that can give you any indication on delivery, I ordered my fin sometime end of April. I certainly fully understand the position you are in!!!

Awesome. :D

Let the fin "break-in" for 2-3 swims or so... Maybe even as many as 5-6 before reassessing stiffness.

Those extra pins are for that purpose. They are a real snug fit (by design) and I needed to use a hammer and punch to seat it properly (Mine is currently set at 2/3 pins... But my knee is still bad... But it seemed like a good setting for one user).

My next pair of Luno shoes will be a tri shoe that has good top-of-foot support (if I can find some).

They dry FAST and the loops at the back of the shoes are awesome for carrying / transporting the Lunocet.

Hello Apneaaddict,

I was advised by Ted to give it at least 10 hours break in time. I considered tri shoes as well, but went against it, because the velcro straps do not provide precise fastening... The boas on the other hand are really good in that respect. Figure they would also be much easier to adjust in the water.

Regarding size, are your shoes really a very snug fit? or is there a slight 'play' at the back of your heels?

Hello Kervyn,

Great to hear you got your's :) but I'm gutted you've now got to wait for the shoes :-(
I'll be interested to hear how you get on with the Boa fastenings.

Lol... I almost caved in and settled for a pair of shoes slightly looser than what I think the shoe should fit...:p But little voice of reason held me back...

The Boa fastening I was testing was awesome. You get the perfect tension, without the guesswork... There are 2 types...1 that when you turn clockwise adds tension, and anticlockwise removed tension... Another one significantly cheaper (1/2 price), you just pull the knob and it relieves all the tension, and you have to adjust again... I will be going for the latter...

Are you sizing the shoes taking into account a fin sock? I had to go up a size and a half to 48 (EU) to accommodate a 5mm sock.
I tried the shoe on with a 3 mm sock... Might have been good with 5 mm socks, but I'd have to order those, and the end result would be the same...more waiting, since these are not available where I live... So Figured I might as well wait for the correct size shoe...

I have sized my shoes for a tight fit with 2 -3 mm socks.

If I can find my ideal tri-shoe, I'll size it for sockless / commando wear. I'd use it for frequent pool use and tropical waters.

I like them to fit tight with as little gap as possible. The foam gets smaller when wet and compressed. Most cycle shops don't like you to soak the shoes before you try them on :)

Also, as you swim, the fin is thrusting forward and effectively pushing your feet forwards towards the toes of the shoes. This is why it's best not to get a shoe that is too long for your foot.

The knee is healing, albeit slower than I would like.

My dry breath hold work and static are benefiting as a result.

I'm a bit wary of sockless...Bad experience with blisters...
Lol...!!! MOST??? :p

Thanks for the tip, hadn't noticed the foam getting smaller with my half booties and my old monofins... I guess Better have a proper snug fit...

My static is probably in tatters after not practising at all since my last mono died some 8-9 months ago... I know I can practice static without mono, but the motivation just wasn't there without a fin to derive benefit from the training...:p

Injuries never heal fast enough...!!!

I meant any foam around the collar of the shoe and any padding will get looser once it is wet a compresses. It might feel tight on land / dry, but once wet, you can re-tighten it some more.

Neoprene socks also compress, but only really at depth. I re-tighten at -5m or so.

A couple of my testers notes the boa slipping a bit initially and needed re-tightening They certainly are EASY / FAST to get out of with the "pull-type"!

So you would not recommend boa? I have had issues with ratchet type, as being stuck in them on land...I dread being stuck in the middle of the sea in case of an emergency.

I hate velcro for biking, and I can't imagine it any different in the sea...

I'll have to get more time with the boa to be able to confirm my thoughts on it. If it loosens with load / flexing... it might not be the best choice.

It could also depend on how many boa buckles your shoe has and the load placed through the cable based on how it's routed. Mine is a single buckle on the heel with the cable laced through like a traditional shoe lace.

Simple Velcro is definitely sufficient tho.

With a sock on at depth, really easy to get tight.

My "heavily padded" shoes take like 5+ days to dry if not exposed to moving air.

Tri shoes don't have this problem and are also lighter as a bonus.

Many tri shoes however have weak / limited strength on the top of the foot and this is where we lean on for monofin power / maximum energy transfer.

Basic Shimano or Sidi Velcro road shoes are a good bet for most ppl.

What make shoe with Boa have you tried? I've tried specialized, and out of the water, the mechanism seems sound, with no hint of slipping. even under extreme tension... There wa a single Boa knob, but placed on the top of the shoe, where you would normally tie your laces....

Please Keep me posted on your Boa findings...since I now have a buffer of 1-2 weeks before committing...

These are the ones I have. I picked them for their hydrodynamics and build quality. Too bad I've used them for less than :30 mins total!

Tonight I "set my 2015 Lunocet Pro free" for a couple of weeks and let a local Freediver use it on his trip to the BVI. He bought one and it is being tracked and is set to arrive tomorrow... But his flight is tomorrow at 8:30am.

"Good thing" I'm injured, local and I can lend mine out to this guy and his friend.

I'm looking forward to their impressions. One of them tried the 2014 previously.

I'm envious of those heading to warm weather and this with 2 good knees! :D

I also have free accommodations in Key Largo for 2 mos... But I won't go unless my knee is good and I can do some deep spearing. It'd kill me to be down there and unable to really dive.

Maybe I could spear at -15m with a single longfin!?!? :D
