FinSailer - did you take the vertebrae pieces completely off the peduncle? You would have to remove the e-clips and use a punch to extract the .250 stainless shaft. I recently started making these vertebrae pieces out of delrin because some were complaining of the squeak of aluminum against aluminum and the wearing of the ano finish. The delrin produces a smooth action with no noise or wear. However, delrin is not nearly as strong as aluminum. Please take these pieces completely off - take the bushings out and insert the stainless steel rod or a screw driver and apply a torque to the hole as shown in this pic. Look for a crack that spreads when applying the torque.

hi Chip,

Thanks for the kind words, but I can't take credit. Pic was posted by Revan and I think the guy in the pic is Walter Johnson, long time Orca user who wrote a couple recent articles for DB about the new Dol-fins . I would not mind trading places.

Delrin is a new word to me.

Reading about it I can see why it is getting a chance to be part of Lunocet.

It is a crystalline hydrocarbon from Dupont. As a crystal it has a repeating molecular structure. It is said to be between metals and plastics in properties.

It is highly machinable. It has a low coefficient of friction and high resistance to abrasion. It is resistant to water, solvents, temperature, stretching and compressing..... Etc.

It is heralded as being tough for the reasons listed, but maybe it is not tough enough when cut thin or resistant enough to impact and torque for Luno hinge vertebrae?

I can see the anodizing wears off of my aluminum hinge parts where the parts rub each other on my 2014 which tells me it flexes more than I'd imagine in normal use. (Therefore I strive to stiffen my spring set up even more.) My hinge has squeaked but rarely. A little lube seems to solve that for a month of regular swimming. I admit to breaking large aluminum parts on two of my previous lunos.... Not on the one I'm swimming now.....(Actually the fin is dead if those parts break.) That instantly returns me to non finned capability. It occurs that would not be nice if I was in big water.

We lean heavily on Ted's astute engineering including material selection to leap into the future. Impressed that a material like this is getting a serious look.

If indeed delrin has cracked and sent FinSailor off course delrin may not be reliable enough for deep water?

I came across something that might be interesting! It is a new fin-store, selling the Lunocet. Looks like they have a standing order deal with Ted, and only sell from what inventory they have in stock. Check it out here: http://www.ultimateswimfin.com/

I'd like to know what the consequence of the following statement on the UltimateSwimFin.com website:

"We have placed a blanket Purchase Order with the inventor / manufacturer (100% made in the USA) and ship rapidly from in-stock inventory."

has for those of us who have ordered directly with Ted. After all, Ted has stated, through his website, earlier this year, that:

"Dropping dealers will soon have me freed up to have more time to work with each and every one of my direct customers."

Hey Fredd - I have been emailing you. Sent one again yesterday. Can you send me an email with "Fredd" in the title - thanks

Email sent 27/11/14. subject:- Fredd from deeper blue.com
Only automated response received :-(

Got my Lunocet finally. Put it together and went for a swim. Found the pace, though my technique is still in its early age. I'm an around the 100 meter max DNF swimmer and the 75's I did to test this out, felt like a sub 70 % effort, without any training. Looks good! Will compete with it in the national championships this spring, hoping to pass the 125 m mark in DYN.

One of the "Half-fins" or what you would call it, had some production-faults. Nothing serious yet, but small dents from the casting and cracks in the rubber already after my first swim. The other half was flawless.

Need a bag for it. Any tips. Don´t wanna screw it apart for everyday training. Looks like an ordinary fin-bag would do the trick?

Martin, I actually do take mine apart and use a conventional swim bag like my son uses for swim team practice. Has nice vented pockets to let things dry out, etc. Not as big a hassle as it might sound, particularly if you use a nice t-handle allen wrench and not the little one that comes with the fin. Oh, we call those half-fins Flukes, and the part between that has the spring is the Peduncle. I'm glad you like the fin!

Doc!

That ultimate swim fin site has very familiar looking suport materials!

I think you've discovered smoke coming from under the rocket! The Luno launch has been wheeled out to the launch pad and back to the hanger so often Ted has wound up a one man show recently.

Consider however the last few messages including especially your discovery, Martins positive report and Papa Smurf's standing offer.

All of us are swimmers but I sense some of us are also brilliant marketers, administrators, and investors all wanting this to move ahead. These are early signs those waiting and watching are gathering courage to step forward as needed!

Hi everybody

I ordered a lunocet pro 2015, and Ted urged me to confirm by proposing me a test unit "with a few scratches" at a very good price. Ordered it on 11/11, and received it very quickly, about 2 weeks ago. Ted did a very good work, the Lunocet is very good-looking.
The only issue, is that I think I have 2 right or 2 left flukes : the logo is on one side for the right one, and the other side for the left one (photo included). I sent an email to Ted to ask him if it matters or not, but only received an automated response :-(
I think it is just the logo that is tatoued on the wrong side on one fluke. What do you think ?

I did not test it already because of the lack of shoes, and the sea is not very quiet !

Sorry for my poor english…

Phaedra2b, the flukes are identical and symmetrical; no right or left. The logo is on one side either way; when mounted there is always one logo up and one logo down. This has the benefit of making the flukes interchangeable; switching them about allows them to wear evenly too.

All you writers with "poor English"!

We understand what you are writing very well. It is great to have you posting! Your international flair adds a lot to the Deeper Blue Forum!

You earn our respect instantly because you have multiple languages! Most of us do not ¡

Phaedra2b!

Congratulations on your fantastic swimming!

I like your example of a quick shipment of your order!!! That is what the finning world is crying for!

The first company that can routinely get a great fin shipped quickly will cause a lot more activity and win many new friends!

Somebody needs to test that "Ultimate Swim Fin" web site Doc found! Can you REALLY get a Luno quickly there?

Thanks neurodoc, I understand better now. I would like to have Ted explain it, but he seems seriously busy. I was afraid to wait a long time for it, since my leaderfin hyper pro has broken 2 month ago, after only 2 years :-(
I know I'm lucky to get my lunocet so quickly. Thanks Ted !
I've been swimming about 6 years with a waterway monofin, then a leader fin for 2 years. I hope to test my lunocet in a few days, when the mediteranean sea is more quiet.

I broke 2 of those leader fins hyper Pros... :( Loved the performance though... Looking forward to testing the Luno soon, as soon as I get shoes ...!!!

Phaedra2b, I used a Waterways Nemo then WW Glide before the Lunocet, so I think you'll like how they compare when you get used to it and get it broken in.
