Hi everybody

First test of my lunocet in the sea this morning and... whaoooo!!!
High fluidity, good cruising speed with less energy and O2 consumption than before, with my LeaderFin. A one hour test, swimming on surface, with a few passages under water. Great pleasure, no regrets, and no comparison with my Leaderfin !

I think I have a Delrin vertebrae, and I hear click sound under water.

I'll continue swimming this week, since the weather is very good and the sea very quiet.

Second test today, with the spring on the stiffness adjustement : very good speed, but much more tiresome than yesterday. And also hear the click sound on each undulation.

I'll return to the second position of the spring the next days.

Reactions: Ted Ciamillo
After a few test (1 hour per day on 4 days only) I hear a click sound under water, and I feel a slight click when the spring is on the stiffness adjustement, on each undulation. This feeling and sound is very rare when the spring is on the middle adjustement.
The low-cost dhb triathlon cycling shoes bought on wiggle (wiggle.co.uk) fit very well and are comfortable : it's like monofin swimming in slippers !!!

Season Greetings to all LunoSapiens from Ruka, northern Finland! And great new finswimming year everyone.

I changed my Luno to a (race)snowboard for a week. Local lake do have a hole in the ice for swimming, but -20C air and approx +4C water does not encourage you to exercise there. Not to mention only 10m diameter open water hole. That would make longer dives to go under ice, which requires a hole new level of diving expertise. Maybe someday...

My dedication to Luno has been quite obvious to my family, that they made me special gingerbreads

Just a small update... Bike shop did not receive the shoes...!!! So new eta is around 20th January...!!! Living on a tiny island SUCKS when you need to get any specialised gear...!!!

On a lighter note, I hope you all had a nice X -Mas...and wish you a fabulous New Year...

I know what you feel, living on a tiny island too, seeing the sea every single day... and no shoes for a long time !!! My shoes take much more time to do 1000km from Paris (almost one month!), than my Luno to do more than 6000 kms in 2 weeks !

Happy new year to all!

That does suck. If I lived on an island like you... That'd be one of at least 5 things that would REALLY bug me. super frustrating.

I am currently living in North America with amazing / quick access to virtually every product in the world and being within :30 of every store I could ever want....

For comparison, there's about 4500 things that REALLY bug me living here / this lifestyle....

Deeper Blue takes some strange turns in the winter!

To FinSailor: Certainly a 10m hole in the ice is twice as safe as a 5m hole in the ice! ..... And the sun is not coming up at all in Lapland. Yikes! Imagining you in a warm lodge made of huge logs eating tender young reindeer meat on a bed of mashed potatoes capped with hand harvested wild arctic Lingonberries! Delicious!

Sounds like your stainless steel washer solution to the "click" may be useful to others. Glad you figured it out.

Phaedra: I ordered a small island and they are claiming they can't ship those at all ¡

Photo of myself just submerging = snow swimming in Nebraska!Unfortunately there is only two feet of snow on the ground so I keep smacking my knees on the street.... Fortunately it's still snowing so it may get better as the day goes on....

Chip you've been MIA for so long I figured you were playing santa, and that you must of got stuck going down the chimney with your modified luno, and I was thinking you would've made it through if not for all the add ons

World is perfect everywhere, just some differences a person has to appreciate I'd give a lot to live on an island, considering my other hobbies (sailing) also.. We just came back from Lapland (800km), from a location/situation which matched very well your description, Chip!

Good news, Santa really gave me a waterproof action cam, so videos will follow! It's been a while away from pool, but I'll go back as soon as I recover from a small hit I took while coming down hard while snowboarding. I hope ribs aren't actually broken or anything, next days will tell how serious it is..

(Sorry, this is off-topic, but here is my first published test video from another sports)

Nice ride! I had forgotten that snow actually squeaks when it gets cold enough! Best of luck on the ribs....

Good luck with the ribs FinSailor... They are a freedivers nightmare (next to sternum)... Every breath hurts!!

Mine was a sprained LCL and I'm back in the pool this week with short training fins and rehabbing it.

I leant my Luno out (it's back from the BVI) and it is now in Koh Tao for a few weeks.

I'll be in Roatan... But lunoless. it takes restraint not to re-injure myself.

I'll just snorkel and screw around at -20 to -30m off of shore with bifins.

As it turns out my last post was closer to the truth then expected ,an eyewitness to the event has described the following events. Ted being a bit behind on his luno deliveries contacted chip to see if he could help him out with his xmas orders, chip being the top bloke that he is obliged, he decided to deliver the orders via the chimney to follow tradition and since going front first with his luno at rear always seemed to work best he saw no need to change , it was a smooth entry at first but it suddenly came to a stop, jammed into the chimney chip reached for his phone, not being able to see the buttons he was pushing he luckily dialled ted, what's wrong chip i'm stuck ted, in the chimney, have you had too much xmas cheer chip, no no no says chip, how wide is it then chip ? 800mm, that's wide enough just keep going says ted, chip tries again , sorry ted not going anywhere, let's see if the doc can help us, doc thinks that maybe revan has encountered this problem and can help out, revan says sorry I can't help in this situation it's gone too far ,but he reliably informs everyone that his fins are designed not to go into chimneys as this is a poor method of delivering fins, he prefers couriers , also his fins have lift points that should someone get stuck in chimney with one of his fins that they'll be able to be lifted back out with the help of a crane. Doc ponders the problem again and comes up with a solution via a group of exercises that chip will need to perform, aa interjected teds right I've been down chimneys with my luno many times it does fit, meanwhile the fire brigade arrived, chip thanked all the deeperblue members but decided to allow the fire brigade to cut the fin into pieces as he had seen the mythbusters show where they have used duct tape to fix just about anything. Chip was last seen in the open ocean doing 40 kms per hour , the duct tape had worked wonders , seaworld employees were in hot pursuit hoping to catch him for their next exhibit as they had had enough of the orcas munching on their staff. As a side note it all would've ran smoothly from the get go if only chip hadn't stuck antlers onto his fin to try and be as traditional as possible , but it all worked out in the end so who cares.

Divebike!

Your inside source is legit!

A fairly accurate account of events over the holidays!

Unfortunately,,,,,,, was captured,,,,,,

I'm currently writing from my new tank at Sea World..... Was unable to sustain 40km/hr¡ Working on it though! Need to learn new tricks to get fish treats..... Any ideas?

They'd REALLY like me to jump over stuff..... Showy trick for the audience they say!

Antler idea temporarily shelved for swimming only!

Had a vision while suspended upside down for so long........ I seeeeeeee.........a........ ......Great year ahead for the Lunos....!

For a few lines, I was worried that Chipswim would chop mine and glue all sorts of thing on it
Hope that everyone starts a great new year!

On a more serious note I hope no one has been encouraged by my posts to take up the little known sport of chimney diving without knowing the safety guidelines first. Like freediving you should always dive with a buddy although this has some dangers attached to it as well, I can recall many dives where the the 2nd diver has suddenly found it has gone completely dark and a loud yelp can be heard coming from the 1st diver and there is also a horrible smell that the 2nd diver experiences, the 2nd diver had forgotten the most important rule of all i.e to go hands first not head first down the chimney , the 1st divers legs have parted and I think you can imagine the rest, not nice at all. Some of the terminology is different as well , e.g the sink phase has been renamed the drop phase or also known as the" aaahhhh she it" phase. The record for this event stands at an amazing 60ft , the incredible athlete record holder can be visited between the hours of 2pm and 4pm weekdays and if you do visit him you'll also get the chance to see another great sportsman a seven time world motorsport champion who is only 2 beds away in the same ward as our hero. If you intend on competing in this exhilarating sport then to have a dive qualify you must be able to complete a series of tests afterwards, this is to encourage safety amongst competitors, after dive completion you must be able to move at least one of your eyes a little, flickering is considered acceptable, you must also be able to create an audible noise once the dive assessors have called your name , groaning and moaning are the accepted norm for a good dive, if by chance you're unable to complete this series of tests don't feel to bad as you're probably dead and can still receive an award from our affiliated organization the "Darwin awards" given to those for services rendered to evolution.

where are your vids finsailor, your new year hangover must of cleared by now. oh I forgot about your ribs, sorry my bad.
