AERIS F.10 User Feedback

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
Spoke with Doug last night.

he is aware of the thread and is following it, they are currently looking into the issue we have raised on here, so i'm confident they will have the issues remedied quickly.

Hello everybody,

it is very helpful for companies to communicate with consumers, especially on the level, we have reached here in this forum. I am definitely shure, that the suggestions were indeed helpful for AERIS and some good ideas for new features came up.

I am also definitely shure, that if there were found some ideas for improvement with the AERIS F10, that our Headquarter in California will realise them as soon as possible.

With best regards

Ok, so I bought an F10 anyway. Thanks to you guys, I knew exactly what the potential problems were, so eyes were wide open; guess I was a bit naive to hope for a more sable version like Fonduesets rofl
Hmmm, took it out of deep-sleep a little more than a week ago, and have since then had absolutely all the, in this tread, described problems plus a couple of others including the light not working anymore :head
Well, of course I immediately wrote Aeris an email, and got a fast response from Mark Lane.
He was not quite sure but expected a firmware upgrade to be ready "in a few weeks" and wrote, that it was supposed to be possible to be installed by the user (wonder how if one doesn´t have a USB cable).

Anyway, it would be really nice if you Aeris/Oceanic guys would drop by this tread again with a more exact date and some info on what to expect from the update; would make the waiting easier......:)

Very best regards
Herup

EDIT 2010.03.14: Light setting in SETU group had reset to 00:00 during a crash of the dive computer. My mistake not to check that of course. So light is now working again :D

Really strange.
I'm still on my first battery. I've been getting the battery indicator a little more often in the pool - but if I go a day between swims it seems to recharge itself. I'm letting it run down on purpose too see if I start getting this behavior. The only thing odd I've seen is once in a great while it skips a lap/dive. I was told to expect 4 months or so if the gauge is in the water often so it's about right on schedule for a new bat.

My D3 has gone to Finland for a service as it had condensation on the inside of the glass when I used it in winter water. I'd love an F10 if the problems were sorted out but in the meantime I'm hoping to keep the D3 going. I'd rather not have to buy a D4 so good luck with the firmware upgrade.

So I have shipped my watch back after they were quick to respond that it was one of the first reports of issues.

Has been 10 days now since the watch reached its destination with no update or feedback. :head

But hey, at least I had 10 days worth on my "investment" before I shipped it into the oblivion....... :waterwork

Will keep you updated.

PS: Has anybody else received replacement watches and were the issues sorted??

UPDATE:

After my second enquiry I have just heard that they did receive my watch and a replacement has been ordered.

At least there are some news.......

Aeris received mine on the 12th of Feb and they shipped it back on the 16th. I haven't had enough time to test it yet - however no signs of a low battery light quite yet. Still need to test the wet activation feature.

I was in love with the f10 until I read the entire thread.

I don't know if I want to buy it now, I have a oceanic Geo right now, I've changed the battery three times already. my brother told me to call oceanic and they will offer an upgrade to the new version. back to the f10, like they said I want to love this computer but it seems they have a lot of issues. I'm a freediver and a spearo. I was planning to buy this computer for my PFI or FII freedive course.

Hi Carliman

Do yourself a favor: Wait for versions with upgraded firmware (or buy a D4 :D )

Very best regards
H!

thanks for the quick response Herup !! where can I track or get info for the newer firmware releases?? D4 is too expensive for me even though is 100.00 more, I just want the extra features and the f10 display. guess I'll have to wait and see If oceanic/aeris cares enough to read all this and come back with a better product.:rcard

Hi Carliman

You can keep track via this tread, since I at least will chime in with a review of the update when its released, installed and tested :)

H!

So I have finally received my replacement F10.

All exited I immediately turned OFF wet activation and held it under a running tap. Guess what........... WET displayed :vangry:confused::vangry\

Mailed Aeris, but still no answer after 3 mails. :head

Guess I'll have to wait and see if the battery issue returns as well.

Weather permitting I'll be using my F10 this weekend. Fingers crossed.

Wet will display even with wet activation off to let you know that water is touching the sensors. The problem is when it goes into dive mode and starts logging when activation is off.

You can't really test this running it under the sink.

Wet will display even with wet activation off to let you know that water is touching the sensors.

I asked Aeris about it previously and this is the reply I got: "If the water activation option is deactivated, you should not see the WET display when the unit is immersed"

well, looks like I will not buy it, I'll use my oceanic geo until the new F10 comes out, hopefully with no issues

Hi all,

after more than 2 weeks waiting for my F10, today I got the phone call from the shop and they told me that they had done the firmeware update on my whatch in Germany. So that means that eventually this long-awaited update is available now.
I will get the F10 - well, only in 10 days, because i will be in Dahab next week :D :D. But as soon as I am back I will test it thoroughly and report here wether all the annoying bugs it had before are finally gone - or not.

cheers,
ivo

@Scorp: Curious if the logbook now acts as one, i.e. it keeps DATE rather than TEMPERATURE of the dives. Enjoy your time in Dahab!

another point to be curious about: will the daily alarm now produce more than just 3 beeps?
all stuff easy to eliminate with a firmware update...

we will see

I asked Aeris about it previously and this is the reply I got: "If the water activation option is deactivated, you should not see the WET display when the unit is immersed"

I was told by Aeris that it would still read "WET", but would not enter Dive mode. Their reasoning was that you would know if water was connecting the nodes which could drain your battery or cause other problems.

If the watch is not suppose to read WET at all with activation off - my replacement watch is another defect..
