AERIS F.10 User Feedback

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
Well, I just got a response back from Aeris.

They say that my report is the first low battery icon during the first months that has been reported to them. I guess they are not monitoring this post as claimed so it is important that if anyone has any issues with their F10 they send Aeris an email. They want to replace mine. Only bad thing is 10 day turn around time + shipping.

Hey Guys. If you could buy a computer again would you go for AERIS F10 or a different one?

I hope everyone realizes they should contact Aeris directly with problems - and not just rely on this thread.

I would hope so too - but apparently I am the first to report the battery and wet activation problems. If Aeris doesn't know about problems - they can't fix them :blackeye

I emailed Doug but it looks like he may be on vacation or something - got an 'out of office' reply.

I used the form on the Aeris page.

The rep who got in touch with me is Mark Lane
Email: mlane @ diveaeris . com

I too mailed Aeris directly in addition to posting on this forum. I got the same reply from Mark Lane:

"...Your new F10 should not be displaying a low battery icon, as the units are shipped from the factory with fresh batteries. This is one of the first reports I have received of this problem with the F10...”

I think everybody with the problem should go to their website and fill out the mail form. The more mails they get, the sooner they'll realise there is an issue....

I guess it would be worth my while to take the 10 day plus shipping time and see if they can fix the issue.

I also would love to love this watch and would as soon as the battery issue is resolved.

I can only hold mine up as an example. It has literally been in the water almost every single day since I got it. Starting with 300 dives in the first week and a half.

After pool sessions I've started kicking it out of freedive mode manually - in the past couple weeks - on the off chance it will save the battery.

I was told to expect the battery to go in as little as four months if I was in the water alot. My D3 lasted I think maybe 3 months before It needed a battery - and I was not in this much - the second battery lasted longer though.

Anyway - I think Aeris has great support so definitely go that route.

I have just taken a leap of faith an ordered the download cable. I am going to like this watch even if it hurts.

I agree with Fondi, we should use direct methods to talk to the factory. Having said that I will bet several grouper fingers that this thread is being well read at the factory too.

Fondi: so how do you completely turn of wet activation, and despite that, do you see it coming on once in a while?

I've not tried that yet :) At the pool I'm in such a frenzy of underwater laps that I've no time to trifle with technology - I will though and will report.

Can anybody shed light on the following question....

If wet activation is turned OFF, is the watch still supposed to indicate WET where the day is normally displayed, when in water? (showering, washing dishes:blackeye etc)

Just got an answer from Aeris. When wet activation is set to OFF, WET should not be displayed (replacing DAY) when watch is in water.

Mine usually still displays WET even though wet activation is off. Most times it will start logging the dive as well. I have several 30-40 minutes logs from pool work and even one from a hot tub soak..

Will, i have the same problems and doubts. Could you explain exactly how you are turning wet activation off please?

I turned wet activation off thru the settings on the computer itself as detailed in the manual.

I do not have the cable to change the settings so have not tried that method - but don't see how it should be any different.

funny how multiple feed-back threads were opened by Doug (Aeris company) and not followed up. I don't think it's entirely fair from Aeris to pretend they never heard about the battery and wet activation problems. They used this forum to announce, promote and launch their product and now it appears they're detached from it? I'm not convinced.

But okay, I'll write to Mark

this is why I am coughing up for the cable, i know Fondue programs his that way and he says no problems. Me and the buttons are just not getting along.

BTW leisurepro has the cable at 69 and the watch at 264 f.10 - Search Results for f.10 - www.leisurepro.com free shipping too!

BTW also hoping cable will allow me to do some FW updates, no way I can send the thing back from Chile

the buttons should definitely work! I've done it both ways but have yet to test wet.

With something like this always communicate directly to the manufacturer via their support - be it email or phone. These threads are great for suggestions and hashing things out but if its not working the way its supposed to go through their support channels - that way you don't have just one guy trying to collate a bunch of complaints and get them to support for you.

I'll turn wet off tomorrow before I hit the pool and see how it behaves.
