I told you the 50m pool for DNF wouldn't be a problem. We saw plenty of PB's, NR's, and the level was not so bad at all as some predicted.

great finals, but live coverage would be much better if in split screen! today we've missed so many details like Dajana's exit(at the moment she could've gone for WR, but camera was on the other side) and the last dives were confusing with constant switching between Bjarte and Fred!

But nevertheless i'm happy to have live coverage at all!

Nice to see they actually got around showing the live images! And actually One can make up the athletes and their movements pretty good.

Now we need a Sebastian Naslund or some other commentator/journalist to do some more detailed reporting.

Very impressive dive by Sessa, Too bad for Bjarte to just have that surface BO. If I recall correctly Bjarte's BO in Denmark he was also swimming over the pool floor until the last meters, where he swam up vertically, to BO at the surface. I think athletes need to take a bit more into account the distance to the surface.

It's certainly not 15% like some were saying, but my pace is about 10% slower with more effort. I stick by my 5-10% estimate. It depends on your style though.

Still, I'm happy with my dive. It was better than expected.

It's certainly not 15% like some were saying, but my pace is about 10% slower with more effort. I stick by my 5-10% estimate. It depends on your style though.

Yes, Chris, your estimate was 5-10% loss in a 50m pool in comparison to a 25m pool, but in reality you improved your PB by 10% in the 50m pool. So indeed you were perfectly right, you just mistook the sign

And you were right (except of the sign) not only for yourself, but also globally. I compared current PB's of all DNF finalists with their best performance at the WC, and in average they improved by 6% in the 50m pool. 68% of finalists improved their PB in the bigger pool. In average by 13% (if I excude the loosers who did not improve). That puts the claims about the advantage of wall pushing quite in doubts, on my mind. OK, the statistics are skewed, because people tend to improve anyway, but in the same time I am sure if I do the same statistics for the WC 2009, the growth won't be as high as here.

Column P is in fact PB (the PB at the moment of the WC)
Column % shows the relation between the WC performances and the PB (WC percent of PB)
Column new tell whether a new PB was set in the 50m pool or not

At the bottom there is the average increase of PB (106%) and the number of competitors who improved their PB there

This is apnea swim!
For this reasonI express my congratulations to Fred and Dajana, but also to Goran.
Clearly in the future we will see the best indoor freedivers come from swimming, will be the favorites, it's so right!
When I persisted in Italy to compete in the pool of 50 meters all the athletes did not agree, but then their changed impression.
World championship should take place in the olympic pool, there is no other solution!
These are the rules and sport traditions!

Kimmo; Please hint to the host of the event, on the live stream to mention not only the name but also the distance they made. Its hard to tell sometimes when the changes view back and forth.
