airguns: Sporasub One Air 2012!!!

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
The recoil looks next to nothing.

Was surprised to see the 90 punch straight through the target and not the 100, especially as the range difference was only 60cm.

I think I may get........................I am definitely getting one now, they look amazing! Question now will be what size! I still would like one of those reviews to clarify the sizing queries.

I tend to use band guns for thier simplicty but I also have 4 mares cyranos! but this sporasub sounds really interesting. I would prefer smaller barrelled guns and this looks pretty wide and whilst shape suggests it may traverse well and offer stability, not sure that it will be very good at moving up or down in the verical plane?
Also never really thought of trying free shaft business, forgive my ignorance, but does this mean it has no slider and line attached at front of shaft?

Without slider should be quieter, but does the line attachment near front of spear affect accuracy at all?

You could find the answer in this videos. Different gun, but free shaft too!

If you watch the vids, the slow mo shots are just brilliant!!

Mike you need to clime down the tree & get a nice Tomba dry barrel kit for one of your dated guns LOL
Seriously though you would be surprised a just how much difference it would make!

Thanks. Very interesting and brilliant vids which helped me a lot.

My cyranos are quite noisy under water, is there a noise reduction with a dry barrell kit?

Can u still use a conventional slider rig with a dry barrel?

Do you think the newer much smaller slider on the airbalete offers a similar performance to the free shaft / with nylon micro slider?

I have found air guns tend to be more difficult to aim than a band gun and have always thought that a raised ridge or a sunken v to sight along would assist on air gun. I see the one air may have the v notch? What are ur thoughts on this?

Another One Air Sea video from Pesca Sub Blog

Interested to see that Ivan says that he was using the gun at a lower pressure - does anyone know if the gun has a built in pressure reducer or whether he'd just let some air out of the tanks? A reducer would be awesome although it's the first I'd heard of it.

Well the new omer guns have the same handle, trigger configuration as a band gun so that should sort out the aiming & yes much quieter with a kit fitted!
Yes Tromic makes a slider kit too in fact he is the micro slider king.

Under same conditions, both wet barrel, or both vacuum barrel, might be similar, but only testing in water would give the right answer. Unfortunately that would be difficult to test with vacuum barrel, except maybe wet barrel. Microspeed slider is too heavy to use it with Tomba. It is about 6 g. Tomba slider is 1,5 g. I would not advice to test it with x-power too. Titanium stop ring might be damaged.

If the following is true then the "One Air" is not what we thought it was going to be.

"The tank is divided into three distinct and separate rooms, a central circular which is the true engine of the rifle and has an internal diameter of over 37 and then promotes exceptional compression ratios, the two side rooms are watertight and contain air at ambient pressure and act as floats making the rifle, especially in measures long, light as a feather. At the same time as all the shotgun is characterized by an important mass that makes it ideal for even powers and generous diameter rods."

That means the gun's pressure tank may actually be smaller compared to a 40 mm (OD) diameter tank if it is an "over 37" (how much over?) mm OD cylindrical pressure tank inside an elliptical floatation coaming. Not sure if I like the idea of one atmosphere air tanks on either side of the gun with high pressure inside and hydrostatic pressure, at depth, outside.

Maybe retrofit your "Airbalete" with the "One Air" muzzle as the "Airbalete" may actually have the larger pressure tank, however I have never measured one's internal capacity (equivalent water volume as in measuring a scuba tank's internal capacity) so I have no way of knowing for sure.

Now only few details are still unknown, to me, although I haven't seen the gun. Would the piston be shorter and lighter than in Airbalete? It might be for about 10 mm because there are no water draining holes. It is also possible that there wouldn't be a skirt seal on a piston, just one or two O-rings.

I bet you cant wait to take one apart LOL

I do not believe there would be something so different from already known, that I would be very surprised. But you are right, I like to take apart new toys. I believe Pete likes it even more than me! :friday

Another great video is up from Ivan @ Pesca Sub Blog -I'll let him post it as it's his video ;)

One thing I HAVE to mention, skip forward to 2:17... is that a BIG fish swimming in from the right!?!?

How does the gun feel in the water Ivan? How would you compare it to a 90cm Band gun?

I generally prefer to fish with band guns, but the pneumatic guns are very powerful and easier to turn in all directions.

The One Air is good in a horizontal direction, less good in the vertical direction. In aiming is a intuitive gun.

Next week will publish in the blog the complete review and sea test (with some fish).

(sorry for the language, i use google translator)

These 90cm reviews are good and all, but if someone has a 120 let us know how it is.

Having placed an order for 2 One Air's a couple of weeks ago, I'm told today that they now won't be available until AUGUST....

Seriously **** them, order cancelled.

Not mad at all rofl
