Yeah i went with the camo in the end, I too doubt it will have much effect... however it may break up my shape a little and its got to be better than a red surf suit!! I just decided that if i was going to be spending the money, i may as well go the little bit extra and get something different. I have heard that camo is more to catch the buyer than the fish... but hey, im not complaining!

I saw something on TV about fish not being able to see red well, but it was for very deep water fish, they said squid turn red to confuse predators.:)
Also huw how long was the delivery time on your elios, i have left mine a little late so i'm hoping for to arrive by may, still i can squeeze into my old suit.

Errrr i think mine took just over a month... around 4 and a half weeks i think. It was worth the wait!! I reckon the waiting time could have gone up a little now though, as this is apparently the busiest period. I think i may try to get in again on wednesday possibly.

Mine took ages,or so it seemed,in reality it was 5 weeks.....anyway,dive reports..........
Dived a few places lately and seen plenty of bait fish,wrasse and some huge shaols of mullet......today i found a new spot which is somewhere in the vicinity of penzance....anyway.....viz was spot on....
Spotted some really large mullet and had some really nice deep dives,this spot is surely a 'hot spot' in times to come.
Huw,if you want,give me a message some time and i'll show you some spots down my way......i'm ready,just wish the bass were also.

There are some good spots around the Mounts bay area. Usually with no one else around. The last time i dived that way i came out with a 4 pound bass much to the dissapointment of a near by fisherman who was stuggling to catch a cold!rofl

How many Mullet have you had so far? I am yet to get in for a dive yet this year but then i have been in the surf a lot which is good. Mind you the long range forcast for surf is looking fairly shite so the viz should start to clear up a little on the north coast. My time is coming soon. I need to try out my new Rob Allen gun ASAP.

I've only had one mullet so far,should of had one of those chunky ones i saw yesterday but alas it wasn't to be.Had another look down there today,have to drive through a few fields to get down there but the viz is great 10 meters plus i reckon,the terrain looks so good,the only thing missing is the bass.
I found a spear shaft on the bottom yesterday....so someones been sniffing about out there.
Theres a seal that follows you around aswell,makes for good entertainment.
The conditions look great this week so i'm going to try and get in everyday,picked a good week to have off!!!

Badlander... Nice one mate, sounds like a hell of a spot! I have a fairly busy week comign up, but have the whole of wednesday free, so thats looking good! I am definately up for meeting for a dive soon, that would be ideal. Only thing is my breath hold will probably be terrible compared to yours :D... and i need to put some small holes or something in my hood as i found it almost impossible to equalize the other day! Also before i really do anything, i need to sort out some ankle weights, as the legs on my new suit are very very boyant... any suggestions?
I dont think it can be too long untill those bass are to be had now!!

Glad you like the new suit:)
Before punching holes in your hood, try letting a bit of water in around your ears when you get in, that will probably do the trick. Also, having a wriggle around and lifting the edge of the face seal, whilst floating upright will get rid of the air in the suit which will help, and will also help with the floaty feet.
I am not a big fan of ankle weights (one extra thing to forget!) although I do stock them. You probably need a bit more weight on your belt

I'm moving back to Cornwall on the 1st May and well, maybe I should give this shooting stuff thing a try now I've kind of mastered the breath hold freedivey bit

anyone in the Manacles area want to help? I'm gonna be living near St Keverne and working in Falmouth

i wear ankle weights, i just use a strip of soft plumbing lead wrapped around my ankles, they are light only 500 grams but they make a huge difference.
I get a sore back when i don't wear them because my legs pull up towards the surface.:)

Just had a quick dip down the south coast,again,no bass...but plenty of mullet all hanging around a finger of rock,managed to shoot one and miss two but it was pretty washy so i'll let myself off,Vis was down to about 3-5 meters which is still better than a kick in the nuts i suppose.
Going to have yet another stab first light tomorrow.All this bloody driving and diving surely has to pay off soon!

Nice one badlander, sounds like a hell of a spot. Are the mullet your finding over shallow sand or rock, or are they quite deep? Usually i havent seen one below 4m... btu thats just me. I usually find them feeding on weed on rocks or within 4m of water filter feeding from the sand.

And pics of this spot or the catch :D??

Yes huw,they were over a rocky finger that stretches maybe 100 m out to an island,depth was about 3- 6ft around the rocks and deepens either way you go away from it,i'll take some photos toady which'll explain it better (didn't manage the first light,running somewhat late).
And fox fish,yep,it was clear all the way down with possibly even better viz than 10 meters,easliy the best i've seen since last year.
It was only that day that was that good however and it's since decreased with the arrival of this little swell.
And didn't have time for a catch photo,it was under the grill double quick time!

Right,went yet again today,drove bloody everywhere today...right down to the Lizard and back with a great little detour through Porthleven which was nice (see pic)....the upshot was,no fish,bad timimg,a few nice waves, and a long walk due to farmers working the fields i need to drive through,vis was excellent yet again but thats all very well when there's nothing to see anyway....saw more wrasse,some big ones and some sand eel.....the sea gulls were deliberately trying to crap on me i'm sure of it.
Decided to call it day at this spot and wait until i know the bass are about elsewhere as it's a bit of a drive and it's becoming costly.
Anyway,here are a few shots of the place with the rocks leading to the island generally where the mullet were hanging out.Right out and around the island is good depth and great weed and gullies.
