I have indeed and have spotted a good few spearos in the water with no flag or float cover. After what happened to Tong in Plymouth I'm extra vigilant. The problem is there is lots of triathlon training and long-distance sea swimming ocurring off those beaches. I've seen boats bearing down on swimmers more than once.
Have you seen the Castle Beach U-Boat lately??

Managed to get in this afternoon on the south coast. Viz not great but certainly do-able. Didn't see any bass so went on a flounder hunt and found 2, the bigger one romping in at 2lb 7 1/4 oz! I thought the first one today was ok but it now looks like a midget... If only I could spear a bass that gets me in to the Hall of Fame!!

That flounder makes you chief Honcho in the HoF, assuming you want it entered. How about a picture with a newspaper background and then you could enter in the July FOM. Only 2 July FOM entries so far and that is a BIG flounder.

I know there's there's one near Gylingvase beach - hardly anything left the last time I saw it.

Yeah, not much left of the U-Boat but saw some nice Pollack hanging about last time I located it.

I can see the Fal from my chair and it's looking good out there at the moment. Still water, not a lot of cloud cover and not too windy (tree tops are pretty still). Not sure what it's like in the bay though.

Went down to Falmouth area for a dive this morning hoping to catch the best of the high tide. Grabbed my kit and legged it out of the house with no breakfast just a bottle of water and a packet of wine gums, such was my eagerness to catch the high water.
The vis was good. 4 meters but not too clear. Did a flattie sweep but saw nothing so decided to try some mixed ground that I cased out yesterday. Drifted in silently and spotted some Mullet feeding off a weed covered rock. I saw them bully a wrasse off their patch which was interesting. They sensed me and moved off slowly but then came back to check me out. Took a shot but missed :head. They fled, so I tried something I read about on a Greek spearo site. I dove down near the rock and threw a load of sand and weed up into the water, turned a stone then left the scene doing a wide circle and doubling back on myself very slowly. The Mullet eventually returned to check out the disturbance along with some schoolie Pollack and Wrasse. They were distracted and I managed to pick off my best Mullet yet. Well chuffed. That was it though, they were outta there after clocking what happened to their mate.
I've never seen gizzards like em fall out of a fish! Huge :yack. Horrid white worms in the gut as well.

Very handy. Not so much for the sea conditions but as an indication of how many holiday makers I'll be showing my hairy arse too when I change

Also saw my first trigger fish which was cool, never seen them outside of tropical waters.
I was going to shoot but dont know the sizes for them so swam up to them, poked one with the spear..... it just looked at me...... so i caught it by hand lol grabbed its tail and hoiked it out, but I cant kill anything that friendly so let it go

Life is full of strange little paradoxes. I've just come back from taking out fishing a couple of friends of friends who are visiting Guernsey. They live in Los Angeles. Okay so would have been even stranger if I lived in Cornwall but I'm only a hundred miles or so from there and LA is 5000+ miles away.Weird.

Right on! I've got the scars to prove that too. They're the meanest fish in the sea. :martial .
