Managed to get in Sat and Sunday. Viz at spot 1 on sat was very poor with very little seen but with perseverance shot a lone 2lb'er.
Went to the beach with the family on Sunday and within 10 mins of being in I'd seen a nice conger and missed a long range effort on a mullet, I thought great, viz not to bad, fish about, happy days. The next two hours were spent trying every trick to find a fish but to no avail. Had to make the lonley trudge back up the beach empty handed. Got back in a few hours later with the tide flooding hard and finaly found the fish and took another 2lb'er. Seems my weekends effort/reward ratio was tipped firmly in the effort direction. Still waters finaly starting to warm up. Should be back in Wednesday.

Spent last week at a camp site near Meva, sure most of you will know where I mean. Spent most of my time doing long trips on a kayak but did get in spearing. Not much seen, usual suspects and a few bass of size that I didn't get a shot on but nothing big. Very little action on the rod too with the only bass coming on an early morning trip. He went back. Had clearly had a bad week with what I assume must be the bite mark of a seal. If it was the bite mark of a fish, it was a biggie to get round a bass probably just of size.

Someone fishing on the beach mentioned a spearo in for a night dive, probably last Tuesday evening, anyone here? Spooked the fisherman with the sweeping light in the water. :)

Saw some guy coming out at Marazion with a nice Bream and what looked like a brace of undersized Bass and Pollack. Annoying in it's own right but even worse as it's a very public spot with tonnes people around.

Last time I saw someone with undersized things (a lobster) I went and told them, in a completely friendly, non-confrontational way, that if the fisheries officer caught them, they'd be hit with a £2,000 fine and a severe rollicking.

I said that the fisheries people were really active in the area and someone got done the week before; a white lie admittedly but it did the job ;)

The guy genuinely appreciated the advice and returned the lobster to the water there and then. Job well done :)

Good moves.

Just a bit of vis info.

Went Kayaking at St Agnes yesterday. Lookede like pea soup everywhere, oth ethan the huge patch of Pea and Mint soup which I took to be an algee bloom.

Back in south of St Austell at dawn and the vis looked cracking. Was gutted to be on the kayak and not in spearing.

Hope that helps someone.

The viz at my spot in St Austell wasn't as good as hoped for, still not bad but was expecting better. Hit two bass with one shot but unfortunatly one got off. Not alot else seen, a couple of high speed mullet and lots of sprats. getting warmer.

Any vis anywhere? This has been the worst summer for me ever, out of a whole 2 summers! By the way, errr other than Portland where are the fish?!

been getting in quite a bit, had some good size bass went on a bream hunt the other day at one of my fav spots, trying to get them close is bloody tricky but still bagged one, lots about but just out of reach the 110 is coming out more now, happy days....

Il second that ! away this weekend (scubaring with uni club in west wales 25-35m stuff :) ) but hoping to get in next week, thinking further south might be worth a shot, lizard or maybe even past penzance. Just away from the falmouth dredging trial !

I found some fish! 3 bass on friday 2lb, 2lb, 4lb and a nice pollock yesterday of about 3lbs. On friday I saw a mother donkey bass, came very close while I was reloading then off it went as I got the spear in the gun! Then yesterday saw a mullet which I had a shot on but paused just a bit too long before it saw me and bolted. Livid as it must have been nearly 8lb, definitely over 6lb. And saw a good lobster but no persuading him out!
Down on the lizard, good vis 10mish. Managed my first 10m dive so well chuffed! I cant afford a computer, but have a 10m float line and used it all up (dropped gun from surface and lowered it to the bottom, tip hit sand with about 1m rope left, so 9m rope + 1m of gun :D) Pics later, but for now I'm off out to Gylly beach for a paddle. Apparently the vis is good there now. Good luck spearo's!

Dorset local Fearthespear popped over the border last week for a little visit and I had a little swim and only third session this year:head
Went to a favourite south coast'er spot and good to see its in business down there.

Wow good to see. Some nice bass there !

Family camping! Before we discuss with our wives the merits of the lizard or the peninsular past Penzance for family camping can anyone give me a heads up on what the viz has been like so we can be biased in our comments!

For info North is awful! If its not swell and wind it rains and washes the mud of the fields.

hi guys could you recommend any camping sites with nearby fishing spots as we would be thinking to go with the family next weekend possibly. if anyone in the area would like to team up would be more than happy as well!

Had a session today in north cornwall. Went fishing first but got a bit peed off because kept losing my lures....I had my gear in the car so I thought I'd try my luck.

Didnt actually manage to shoot anything worth while, but saw plenty of decent wrasse, some spider crabs and small pollock. Also had about 20+ bass around me at one stage, but nothing big enough :rcard. But was still good to see :)

May be next time !

Can anyone recommend a decent mask (under £35) ? Mine has seen better days !

Cant go wrong with a Cressi SuperOccio. I have two for all the diving I have ever done in decades. I only just cheekily bought the Omer Zero...and I do like it.:wave
