Hi Podge how are you? Mandy was saying it won't be the same without you, Jim and Spaniard! Never mind, I'm sure the others will drink ( and eat!) for you. You also forgot to mention winning ( and eating ) a little 5lb lobster! Like the new avatar!
Cheers
Colin:wave:friday

What an awesome first day of the Spearfishing Specimen Hunt. Whilst the weather didn't play ball completely 21 competitors got in the water (and 21 got out much to our relief!)

14 Fish were caught by competitors but only 8 qualified within weight limits. Dan Noble took the daily kitty prize for largest Bass.

Results table attached to this post. I've also included a pic of daily winner of the largest Bass prize - Dan Noble.

Let's see what day 2 brings - especially after all of us going to Herm Island tonight for a BBQ and a few jars of beer/cider!

Early night!!!! What’s all that about???
Can’t believe that nobody got left in town to crawl back to the hotel, or had to kidnap a local for directions as he was to drunk to find his own way (Glowworm) Standing up straight and not dribbling down his shirt while trying to find a taxi and then not being able to speak after we found one (stuckinsurry) or even forgetting to pick up his life saving insulin after just a drop to much to drink one evening (me) but of course that one was Marts fault for forcing me to drink all that wine.:):):):)
Have a great evening over at Herm people, and we want to see pictures of empty Pimms jugs everywhere.:friday:friday:friday
Oh and i guess we better see a few fish caught as well:):)

Ha, ha - spot on Podge!! And the night bus adventure was a laugh too....:)

Don't worry Col, tell Mandy we'll all be back soon ;-) (to eat and drink of course)

Careful Papa Smurf, that cider will get you.................

Todays competition will be held around the Knife area.
Sign on time will be between 12.30 and 1.30pm

Turn down past the Peninsula hotel to the headland.
As you pass with the hotel on your left follow the road to the left until you find the car park.

You must be back at the top of the beach by 6pm for the weigh in.
However there will be someone there to weigh you fish from 5pm in case anyone need more fee time for this evening.

Please note for the people who are catching the 945pm ferry you will need to leave my house (after the prize giving) by 830-845pm.

Open house at Craigwillian from 6pm free food, drink & I think Yeti said he will be doing some form of Welsh pole dancing while jonny plays hickabilly on his bango!

Spaniard, you would have been proud of us last night, we were probably the last home at about 1.30, after a few night caps with some of the younger ones! For some reason my legs appear to have stopped working after I got out of the taxi and I disappeared backwards into the shrubbery, as a granite wall mysteriously moved. I think I can claim the first injury of the weekend, not shooting myself or being dashed against rocks, but a severe case of granite rash to the elbow and hands! :crutch:eek:

Nice one Col!
I have just come back from the sign on, conditions looking much better today or at least standing from the shore they look better.
Some of the guys were suited up & ready to go by the time I arrived.
Great venue for flatfish but I fear the recent swells might of kept the fish out of the bays still good luck to all the guys and girls (we have two spearing girls today)
Unfortunately its raining, not much wind, warm humid & sticky!
Party tonight...
I have boiled 14 lobsters, two chancer & we have 3 dozen scallops too.
I am going to attempt a Thai style lobster stir fry for about 34 people tonight so wish me luck too...

Mrs Sarnia here, I haven't laughed so much in ages one minute Cols was next to me and then the next he was disappearing backwards ottering the word "what the f***" I
managed to stop laughing enough to haul him back to his feet an signal to the taxi driver that all was well. it had to be the funniest thing I have seen in ages and much to his chagrin I keep chuckling to myself and muttering "what the f***"

Oi wifey DB rape! At least I didn't try to forge a chancre comp entry! There's been enough of that recently!rofl:naughty

Well its a good night from me - 1.15am Podge, not to be sniffed at!

As I consider my bed I cant help but think of you guys traveling back on the late ferry but, at least you wont have my hangover in the morning!

Maybe see some of you back next year......

Don't worry about that one- we were busy planning our next trip last night :)

It was great to meet up with everyone, just wish we could have been there a little longer, particularly for last nights party if nothing else.

Huge thanks to Mart, Sarah, Vicky & Stephan for all your planning and work to make such an enjoyable weekend for everyone.

My only disappointment was discovering Rocquette Cider with only a few hours left on the island Mmmhh. Probably just as well really!

Cheers

Grant

I was up at 7am this morning, cleaning yesterdays fish after putting them on ice last night. I must say gutting mullet first thing this morning was not my idea of fun!
Did a tip run as well but, perhaps I should not of been driving until a bit later!
I just cant believe Stephan spilt all that red wine on my best quality gravel - but then I cant believe I uses Mandy's shawl to mop it up with!

Hello , I was looking to target any species of flatfish from the shore in pretty shallow water (if possible ) immun sure of where to go I would Appresiate any information given to me ,thanks very much

Sounds like a great weekend was had by all, and at 11.15 last night I was almost with you (Stephan):):).
