Far western end of chesil 0-1.5m :( but billions and I mean billions! Of fry completly blocking and vis, thick wall to wall, top to bottom, whole length of beach; biblical plague proportions and I'm not kidding!
Short dive...but managed well under an irish quota of one 3lb bass.

1 solo bass, sustainable, not to small and not to big 48cm / 3lb. With scale in pic. Fish dispatched quickly and did not suffer. Dived safe with a buddy. Told my mrs the exact location.

Heading over to the 'try free diving' course at RNLI Poole on Tuesday night next week. If anyone is keen go onto the gofreediving website to book in. Apparently they run spearfishing courses as well. Should be a laugh (although a pricey one at £75!)

Does look interesting that. Just been on the website. Only thing is I don't finish work till 5 and I live in Weymouth. Be a bit if a push getting home getting gear then driving to Poole. :(.

Well gents
What is happening with vis ????
I went last Mon and Tuesday after work with Scott highlander and both evenings vis was crap,1 m if that,on Tuesday we were surrounded by bass but as vis was so bad we kept missing them ( I ended up with 4 ,a kamikaze garfish and spider crabs,so quite happy) but certainly worry re vis here
Is it due to bad winter with storms and gales???
Anybody knows?
I am planning to go again Mon early morning as I have day off work,if anybody can join me more fun ,I could also do Sunday night dive...
Please post vis report the lucky ones that go this weekend please

Viz reports from swanage to portland and prospects for next weekend please if anyone is taking a dip. Also what are opinions on spring/neap tides for shore dives regarding viz and fish seen. My very limited experience this far has shown more fish over a neap flood than a spring flood, maybe it's because the neaps I've been in on have resulted in decent viz. The few mullet I saw on my last trip over a spring flood were around very pale yellow purbeck stone and not the usual dark colour, and were very difficult to spot, they just sort of melted into the surroundings. Is it worth spearing through the slack and into the changing tide. This probably is all over thinking and maybe the best time to go is when you can!
