The squid dont like dirty water and move away deeper when its like tea! But... As its so dark and as the water contains so much crap as soon as the viz is about 4-5m again it will be a turkey shoot if your in the right place with your own portable sun..

Squid curry!!!

i would love to hear the weymouth area is a go for visibility because its a 2 hour drive for me and im itching to get in the water!!!!!

Thanks Jonny,

Yeah I will be doing some pool work as I do enjoy swimming anyway.

I know its off subject but - Does or has anyone used an expand a lung to train with?

If so what are your opinions of using them as a training aid?

Cheers

Ryan

Those expand a lung things are about as usefull as breathing through a drinking straw. It creates a resistance as you breath in and out. Just another gadget trying to make training seem easy and do it as you watch tv. Go for a run a bit cardio training does wonders for bottom times. Or bit of apnea walking ( on grass lol ).

Saying that i know a very successful spearo who uses one and says its brilliant. I have seem them on ebay for bout £20.

Hi Matt,

Thanks for your advice, I've just looked into the Apnea walking, seems like it could be quite dangerous! But definitely the cheaper option.

Conditions are looking favorable for a Saturday dive but the tide range is no good for the spots I know - anyone any hints on where might be worth a look for an early pm dive?

Cheers

Ryan

Damn!

That's how I've been doing my training to date: breathing through a straw whilst watching telly.

Guess I'll have to change that now :)

in short those expand a lung things are crap. don't bother! Save the cash and put it towards a proper freediving course. That is money well spent and will improve your spearing 50% (or your money back ;) ..

Weather is definately looking more favourable for the weekend and following week - but will the viz clear?

Looking on the angling forums, they are still taking bass from the Dorset coast!

Thanks Azapa and everyone for your advice - I am looking at doing a freediving course next year along with my Dad.

Depends on the pricing....

Hmmm (Bryn!?)

Cheers

Those courses look very pricy i did look into doing one a while back, but once you add up the course price , travel fuel, accomdation food etc it is alot!, id rarther spend that money on some gear or a nice sunny diving holiday than a cold lake!

And i dont need a certificate to say i can dive 20 meters and hold my breath for x. I can see that its a good way to learn safety and how to do things correctly if you are new to the sport.

just my opinion , which im sure has anoyed someone.

Could always go for a cold wet holiday in Norway 20 -30lb Cod Everywhere roflrofl

You not wrong. My mate went fishing there in April and it cost £750 pp for a week and they were roughing it

A few of the welsh boys were looking at doing it this Spring or Autumn but there are no passenger ferries anymore sadly. The prices were just extortionate aswell for us to take our kayaks etc with all the fuel that would be needed. If only they allowed you to barter your fish for petrol rather than boat fuel over there!

Offtopic: My RA line release is feeling abit stiff as it gets stuck inside the handle. Would appling abit of WD40 do the trick? Is anyone in contact with Colin Chester from ESS regularly?

Cheers

Spearheads,
Matt,
You should be careful that you don't end up getting a reputation as a right old scrooge, every post that i read from you lately is moaning that things are too expensive!
Get your wallet out, give it a dust off and enjoy yourself!
