Tell you what, to make myself get off me lazy ars*, I'm in, unless the wind gets up a bit.

No VHF, but do posess a big gob which will shout "Oi, slow down" should the need occur, which it will.

I'll check the tide atlas when I get home to see which end it would be best to start from.

I'll see if Ed fancies it too.

South coast tide is slack at low and high. Falling tide runs from the east to the west. After the low slack the tide turns and on rising it runs west to east.

There's no mobile signal at the bottom of Les Tielles in case you should both sink... It might work in a yak a bit out from the base of the cliff but don't count on it. We'll send out a search party if you don't post on here by about Tuesday...

Nice haul Dave
Popped in last night for a 'swim' round the bay and was exploring new ground - saw some fish, had a great dive, nice and clear but the wind picked up a bit towards 11/11:30pm.
Better get a groove on - catch y'all soon
(Uncovered plaice are my speciality ... have yet to find a buried one but with my eyesight they need to be on the large side and uncovered preferably with neon orange spots )

Winds switched to a 22mph south west now, and if it stays there I won't be coming, sorry mate. Ed's a maybe, despite ignoring it in his message, unusually he needs to get some building done rofl

Thanks Dave, if we do go looks best to start at Petit Bot then, use the tide dropping to low to help us along, and turn back on the rise.

They were doing work to divert the Creux Mahy to the main outfall recently. Not sure if it's been completed yet though.

Had a very frustrating dive today. Went NE and first off vis was disappointing. It was about 10 foot, which was fishable, but nowhere as good as I had hoped for. Spent an hour or so playing in the edge of the tide which was absolutely hammering (a lot more than I had expected). It was dead as can be. Saw a couple of medium wrasse and that was it, no silver fish at all, not even a grey ghost of a mullet.

Eventually pushed into the tide and went with it having worked my way half a mile up tide by swimming the edge. Down to my best guess weed bed where I pulled into the lee and started to hunt the string weed. To cut a long story short I saw 5 large bass and one smaller one. Fired 4 shots and only managed to hit one fish, the smallest bass.

There seems to be less bass each year and they’re getting smaller. I struggled to make 7lb my best annual bass last year and managed one over 8lb the year before but doubles are a distant memory. Back to today. The bass I speared was 4.5lb. The best one I saw I estimated to be 8+lb but now comparing it to the 4.5lb-er I reckon it was a double. It was one of the fish I didn’t fire at. It appeared about a foot from the spear tip as if by magic as I stalked the weed. All it needed was a twitch of my trigger finger. In my mind I had already speared it, landed it and entered and won the FOM. I watched it swim off, as my pathetic reflex was totally inadequate.

That was the best and easiest chance of a big bass I’ve had for years. My other efforts were equally useless and although none of the other bass were as big, they were never the less all relatively big fish, in the 6-8lb bracket.

nice catch dave,
your right about the bass i have not seen any for a 2 weeks now of a good size,
saw a double figure bass last year in may and i was in shock that my brain did not think about shooting it, and for some reason a feel happy i did'nt, looked beautiful where it was,

got my first bass last tuesday i was over the moon. went down the wast coast saw lots but spooked most of them. viz was as good as iv ever seen it alltho it is only my second season doing this amazin sport and from what i hear last year was about as bad as it gets so hears to a good start.
