Holiday Guernsey 2007

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
Not sure Col but I told the restaurant I would confirm numbers next Sat at the latest.

A bit of a delay here - sorry for that - count me in for all and any arrangements Foxfish - very kind of you. Thanks

Well I survived my stag night (just) in Dinan, so back in the land of the living.

With getting married on 4th august I am a bit pushed for time, but you can count me in for diving, lifts and a curry (if there is space) on saturday afternoon and evening.

Anyone needing lifts from airport etc anytime just send me a pm

Andy

Is there a rough itinerary for the "invasion"??

... or should I say the "Guernsey Freediving, Spearfishing and Seafood Festival 2007"

I guess it might go something like this - diving drinking diving drinking diving drinking!
The first two guys arrive on Thursday (Marco from Italy is already here) I will pick up someone from the airport & OMD will get the other (not sure which way around yet) Spaniard might want a dive in the afternoon as he arrives at lunch time? Thursday evening I was going to keep low key & most likely just cook for our guest if Spaniard, James & Marco can catch anything that is? Friday more arrive at lunch time so I will meet them & possibly take them diving in the afternoon, that means Spaniard, James & Marco will need taking out over the low water by someone?
By Friday night everyone should be here but I am reluctant to commit to anything until we know the weather situation? Possible activities, night dive, garden party , pub or who knows? I quite fancy if the weather is on our side The Terrace Cafe because it is such a interesting location & the food is superb! How about Herm for the evening?
Sat will be the first day we can all go in over the low & sat night is in the Indian, Sunday, it would be possible for two dives? The evening at mine for lobster feast.
Monday we say goodbye (cheerie for know - A la Perchoine)

Depending on weather and peoples inclination I will offer boat trip at some point either for sight seeing and/or a bit of rod fishing but not diving. Not much time to sqeeze everything in so this will be an optional activity.

Well only one week to go chaps :friday
If this weather holds we will be having a party. The vis has cleared right up maybe 20-25' today, about time!
Tried some deeper water today but my breath holds are not up to scratch - lack of practice obversly! Still managed another couple of bass, not big ones about 3lb a piece but as I scale, gut & behead my fish on the beach I don't often weigh them. (or photograph them)
Marco our Italian visitor has been here four days & caught 8 or 10 bass!! To be honest he is in a fitness league of his own & obversly very good!

I’m in a fitness league of my own that is being very unfit.:)
I’m with you foxy I could spend all day wallowing around in 3 to 6 meters with next to bugger all tide to fight against.
Bring on the Jap Weed and the Indian stalking.:D
NOT LONG NOW
Hope that superman Marco leaves some for us mere mortals.rofl

Hey Podge bring with you a couple of shots in the water and the dept will be doublerofl rofl rofl .

roll on friday :friday a big thank you to the guernsey boys for all the hard work organising everything! my offer still open if anybody wants kit taking over!

Not long now, Monday morning and I think I’ll start to wind down for the weekend.:) :)

Start to wind down? I'm in the pub wearing my wetsuit telling tall fishing stories......

While I am n the kitchen boiling up brine solution (sugar salt & tarragon) & filleting fish for the smokehouse!!

Good man! Can't wait to gorge on produce from the sea, all I can see are cows and pigeons from my window!

Lucky you all I’ve got is car’s and rain, although the hairdressers next door gives the occasional bit of eye relief.:inlove

Good work foxy I reckon I could eat my own weight in fresh smoked fish.:)

I have 18 mackerel, about 10lb of wrasse, 4lb of bass & 10lb of mullet + organic chicken organic sausages & garlic bulbs & onions all Merrily smoking away. Unfortunately it is not all for you guys but I might save you a little!!

Very confusing weather forecast  There must be 5 or 6 Guernsey weather forecast sites I have looked at - all different ideas on what it is going to be like for the weekend? The only thing they agree on is the wind direction = South West.

Not long to go now! PS Foxy, could you check whether or not OMD got my PM ref:weights? Cheers mate!
