Holiday Guernsey 2007

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
Very confusing weather forecast  There must be 5 or 6 Guernsey weather forecast sites I have looked at - all different ideas on what it is going to be like for the weekend? The only thing they agree on is the wind direction = South West.

Is that the prevailing wind direction? I need to brush up on my Guernsey geography - if it is blowing which is the most favourable wind direction for fishing? where I usually dive a south/south-easterly wind screws up my diving, as does too much rain - most of the areas are near(ish) to rivers. Maybe its a dumb question (I'm good at those.)

We're a bit shy on rivers here. Rain isn't much of a problem - apart from the fact that you'll get soaked. ;)
Our prevailing wind is a westerly (to Sou-West). It'll blow out our usually popular west coast but this is the beauty of living on an island - you just throw yourself off the other side. :)

Beardy is right we can go on the sheltered side but he he also right about the west is best!
I will send you a pm Spaniard in an hour or so - yes Dave has it sorted.

I have come up with Sunday's menu.

To start..... smoked fish with roasted cherry toms & french stick with Sark butter.

Next..... lobster tail served in a scallop shell with Guernsey everything -cream, butter, cheese & tarragon (my organic, basic version on thermidor) + salad.
Lobster claws served separate hot from BBQ.
There will be a large crab to try as well.

Next.....Guernsey melon (fingers crossed) & roquefort with pumpkinseed biscuits.

Finally... marshmallows around the fire.

Bring you own wine.

i've got the beer and the cider sorted.
i found 3 nine pint barrels of beer, 1 blond, 1 bitter and 1 best along with a 12 pack of bottled cider.(should all be good stuff)
its amazing what you can extract from people when you sell guns for a living.:) :)

I'm 11 stone, 5'10" - put enough rocket fuel in me and anything is possible!!:)

11 stone my bones weigh that muchrofl rofl
i'll bring more cider!:)
:friday :friday

There's a good supply of local cider over here, Personally like Rocquettes Cider, rustic I would call it.

Just think yourselves all lucky you won't be carrying me home else you'll all need rocket fuel and take a limb each...

Looks like we'll all have to wear ASBO tags so as not to get into trouble (my missus thinks i'm going on a sedate '3 men in a boat' fishing trip) rofl rofl

Mines stood right behind me with fire in her eyes and a bloody great bat in her hands.:ko :)

Well Mrs Podge should know that this is a purely educational trip, we will all be tucked up in bed nice and early so as to hit the fishing at the crack of sparrows. Also, I am very religious and do not condone any excess.......

So who is running with me ? I go most mornings but we can go after our dive if you prefer. ;) O & you can get a temporary membership at the locale gym if you want? - anyone? & Sarah says bingo on Fri is great?

Speaking for myself only, I like to practice horizontal yoga in the morning, but i'm bang up for bingo!!

Woohoo! Party on! :friday Who cares now if we get no diving done! I was going to bring some lagers but perhaps I should bring some Randalls beers ( if I can find any!) and Rocquette cider in line with the Guernsey gourmet evening!

( Don't worry Podge and Spaniard - it's all on the flat and Foxy's got a wheelbarrow!:) )
