Holiday Guernsey 2007

I think the lobster party is on :friday I have sent a few text to my mate who is presently 15 miles off the north coast of Alderney! (tough bloke). He has 6 lobsters for me this sat but should have another 10 or 12 by the 28th + I can have a free deep sea crab, the last one he gave me was a huge thick shelled monster!!
I think we will have our lobster (& crab) party on the Sunday evening & if no one objects I will cook them up & serve in my own Guernsey way? Of course we may have some fish to go with our feast? I would love to make this an open invitation to all but I cant really cope with more than 15 so any guerns wanting to share the lobster feast will be first come first served.
I thought on the sat night we could go to the pub, the mariners then Blind o reillys for the live band. These pubs are not in town but in a little shopping centre along side the marina.
Not sure about Friday any ideas?
Foxy count us in for everything! Sounds like a plan. Walking pub crawl for the "Bridge locals" ! I had promised to host one evening if needed - paella or whatever - Friday?.
:friday :friday :D rofl :duh zzz :yack :hungover

I am so jealous of you guys going over just as i start my new job.The day myself and 1 shot spent on the island was excellent made even better by the company.

I may still sneak over for a day visit if i can...

It all sounds good to me; paella, lobster feasts and a pub-crawl what could be better.:)
Foxfish on your Christmas photo you had a bottle of Brandy, can you remember what it was?

Went in yesterday to start the ball rolling. Selected a couple of big wrasse and a large mullet that were prepared and frozen ready for smoking by Mart. Hopefully this weekend will see a haul of mackerel fresh smoked and frozen down just in case they're in short supply or God forbid the weather is crap when you guys are over. Saw a few bass but left them for you visitors. I also have a friendly lobster/crab supplier. Free to me but cost price to my mates. Prices are low at the moment about £3.50/lb for lobster I think. Crab was about 50p/lb. These are the prices the commercials get for selling them and my mate supplies my mates at (mates rate). Market prices are double.

Hey PODGE you are turning the knife into the wound,do you know some people like me can't get there???:head .

Well Tony here's another twist. Scallops aplenty will be available. Getting some of the biggest fattest prime scollies I've seen for years at the moment. With a bit of luck turbot will also be present at tea time and/or brill, provided I can get out this and/or next weekend. Probably stick a bit of plaice and some sole to one side as well. Any other items can be had by special request :) .

Dave

Strewth who is cooking all this then?
Another decision to be made, on sat if we pup it on the Bridge (affectionately known as the Broncs) where are we going to eat? The choice would be - Chinese, Indian, Thai, English or chip shop!

Just seen all this info. and my head is spinning!! Lobsters, scallops, cider, fires, pubs, dancing naked ladies!!!! Put me down for anything and as far as food goes i'll eat anything but i am a curry addict so if the Indian is any good then why not! I don't mind helping with cooking duties, glass of cider in one hand a la Keith Floyd.

This is turning into 'Raiders of the lost Bass', maybe i'll never come home like one of those Vietnam vets that still live in the jungle.......Gentlemen, start your engines!
