Leaderfins

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
Ordered a new pair of waves alga carbon a couple of weeks ago for my birthday and they appeared on my door six days later in a1 condition. Big love to fins4u, immaculate service! Can't wait to try em...

hey, so now I finally have fins + blades and I have a couple of questions on assembly

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

this small plastic part probably goes over the thinner part of the shoes extensions?
and in connection with the first:

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Do I need to trim the rubber on the fins, so this part fits more easily and closes the gap? or is this how it's supposed to be?

there is no way that I get a tight fit...

I mean I can get it to fit on the top side, but then the gap on the bottom side is 1-2mm

You need to push one side on the angle it to push the other side on. It will fit just needs a bit of manipulating

Hey guys,
new to the forum but i love it so much... has got plenty of useful info to spearos.

Ref the topic on Leaderfins... 'for those who own the fines i.e. leader blades + leader pockets'... how is your feeling and your opinion of the Leader pockets??? Are you happy with them Or you wish you had other pockets such as the Omer Stingray, Pathos or any other?

Thanks
Dive safely!

Leaderfin footpockets are rather heavy but besides from that the best footpockets i ever wore.

- heavy

+ really soft and comfortable
+ very durable
+very nice and easy to slip on
+no pain even after several hours in the water

+ fast customer service
+ great blades

the rumours about a strong smell i can't confirm. normal smell here ...

Thanks for your quick feedback.
may I know which other footpockets did you use before and compared with the Leader ones?
I have Cressi gara 3000 LD, are the footpockets the same softness as the leaderfins? I feel the Garas are quite heavy and tiring for me, I am over 90kgs, which stiffness would suit me the best. I am diving anything between 5 to 20 meters with a decent amount of surface swimming.

thanks in advance for the advice.

I just used the Cressi Garas once and would say they are not as soft as the leaderfins pockets.

Mainly i used Beuchat Competition Pro fins before Leaderfins. The Beuchat fins are very hard so i ordered the Leaderfins in soft.

Although i weigh more than 90kg and am muscular soft blades are totally right for me.
I dive usually a little bit deeper, 20-30 m .

When the much softer Gara 3000 LD are already to hard for you surely you should go for soft blades.

Leaderfins footpocket is exactly like Omer Stingray, exept Leaderfins is a lot softer and heavier ;)
I used 5 months Leaderfins footpocket, but i changed these to Stingrays, today i tried these for first time, and these are lot better than those soft Leaderfins! ;)
I use medium carbon blades, im 72kg.
90+kg man should use:
Omer f/p + medium blade
Leaderfins f/p + hard blade
But i recommend Omer f/p (if u have normal feet) or H.Dessault if u have wider feet ;)

Seems to be very hard to choose the right blades.

I am totally fond of soft blades especially when it comes to using them for several hours.

The hard blades really hurt my ankles although i am supposed to use them.

My suggestion came from considering them soft gara fins and the hard beuchat.

To please everyone you should probably go for medium ;) .

No, no kidding, i guess its hard to describe this, unfortunately you have to test this out for yourself...

Thanks a lot guys for your input, I do appreciate it; however, it made me grow from a bit confused to very much confused :blackeye

sorry guys but it is the first time for me to buy Carbon fins and I am totally messed up! I need good fins with good foot pockets which give good support to the foot while kicking and do not bend, so I do not waste any power.

I am inclined towards the hard ones but the rationale says that I should go for Medium "as all around stiffness".

I have also otions of the Picassso, Pathos, Beuchat foot pockets.

My real question is, what do you mean by 'softer' footpockets? Are not they supposed to be soft in order not to hurt the foot? or you mean soft in a negative way?

Help!

Leaderfins medium carbon + leaderfins f/p = like other companies soft.
And btw, Leaderfins carbon vs glassfiber, there aint big difference, exept fiberglass is cheaper :)

Leaderfins "carbon" is sandwich, wich means it only has 2 (not sure) layers of carbon and other is glassfiber :)

I have tried medium fiberglass with leaderfins f/p, cant say if there are any difference at all vs carbon.

I have also tried hard fiberglass with leaderfins f/p, its like other companies medium :D

Leaderfins f/p is the most comfortable what i have tried, its soft rubber, can use fins all day long BUT tendons are reallllly soft, u can make knot out of these rofl
Stingrays tendons are hard, but pocket is soft, not sooo soft like Leaders.
Its also comfortable :)

Leaderfins WAVES Carbon blade weight: 315gr
Leaderfins f/p weight: 825gr
Whole fin with Leaderfins f/p weight: 1150gr

Omer Stingray f/p weight: 688gr
Whole fin with Stingray f/p: 1000gr

From my knowledge Beuchat f/p is 12 degrees, so that doesent fit with 22 degrees blade, am i wrong ?

Pathos is lightest f/p in the world (probably), it weights 380gr one, BUT u have to glue it to the blade!!!

Picasso is okay, but Omer and H.Dessault is better :)

SORRY FOR MY BAD ENGLISH! :friday

If somebody have more specific questions, ask! :)

thank you very much, that was really helpful!

If u want best performance out of these blades, u should buy footpockets seperately :)
For normal feet Omer Stingray
For wide and high (shortly - Big feet) feet H. Dessault
For wide Imersion
etc

Leaderfins blades are "best bang for the buck" blades on the market!

Thanks Martin, but since you are hooked up online, i would like to ask you which stiffness do you recommen for me?
I am abit over 90kg, 1.8 meters tall, usually wear 3.5mm suit with abt. 3-4kg weight belt.... I do a decent surface swimming and dive anything between 5-15 meters (max 20 meters).

which stiffness of the carbon blades would suit me best?

thanks

Depends what footpockets u plan to use,
If Stingray or H.Dessault, i would say medium blades or if u want softer fin then soft blades. Its pretty personal, hard to say.
For spearfishing is bit harder fins better, because then its better to maneuver :)
