Leaderfins

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
Is anyone using Pathos footpockets with leaderfins blades? What glue are you using? Is it easy to do the glueing by yourself?

My medium blades arrived today. Finish is not flawless, but who cares, they're gonna get scratched up anways. Just for reference, they're a bit stiffer than my Seac S800 and a LOT more reactive if you bend the blade and let it snap back. Now I'm waiting for the Pathos footpockets to arrive. I'll be in croatia in July and have the chance to test them in the ocean there. Can't wait!

Hey Ivo,
I'm interested in your experience with the medium & hard versions of the two Carbon WAVE fins...
I bought a pair of Carbon Waves in medium & - unfortunately - after 6 days they snapped on me on my holidays. Leaderfins will send me replacement fins, but I'm wondering whether I should go for the harder version.
My other fins were Cressi Garas - the 200HFs & I have a Waterways Model 1 fin in Medium stiffness - my max depth was 35m - several years. I am 180.34cm (5ft11) & weigh 80 kgs.
I liked the mediums when using, but I'm wondering what the difference is with the 'hard' ones. What is the difference when using???

Thanks Ivo.

just spent a day out with my new carbon leaderfins and they were fantastic! (medium stiffness-glad I didn't go with hard). As for ascending, try a couple of feet together dolphin kicks and you come up like a missile! You won't regret them.

Hey guys does anyone know if there is a difference between the pure carbon waves and the ones listed as just carbon without the 'pure'. there is a difference in price of 30 euros????

Pure Carbon is 100% carbon and made with different (better) method.
Just Carbon is mixed with fiberglass.
If you want best performace then take Pure.
For best results use Pathos, Omer Stingray or H.Dessault footpockets.

Good luck!

thanks man i apreciate it. I have omer millenium pockets but i thought of getting the ones that leaderfins provide because i like to use my milleniums also especially for shallow dives and therefore i wont have to stay switching blades everytime.

Leaderfins pockets are really soft, maybe hard/extrahard blades = Omer Stingray with medium blades. Millenium is also soft. People are different, some like soft, some hard fins

All good!

pathos foot pockets are the best in my opinion, as they are a lot lighter than any other foot pocket..Also pathos do a hard and soft version of the foot pocket

i originally thought of getting a medium carbon blade of leaderfins since with my milleniums i manage but after like an hour of diving my legs do get tired. But now that you guys are saying they are soft and the foot pockets are also soft iam thinking of going for the hard blades. its hard to decide between the medium and hard hehe

Mediums are really soft with Leaderfins own f-pockets, hard is pretty okay

iam new to carbon fins, i watched this video on youtube [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hUzGPhGSIkM"]carbon Leaderfins - YouTube[/ame] and the guy is showing flexibility and recoil of the fins. i think a hard blade will snap back faster then a softer one?? so it looks like the first demo is a hard blade, second is medium and third is soft???

In comments it reads "left to right: - hard - exrtasoft - medium - soft", so the first demo would be - medium???

kkdavids, I'd have a question in regards to comparsion of stiffness between your Pure Evolution carbon and Leadres' Waves fiberglass blades. Would the 20 (soft) P.E. be more or less the same stifness as the soft fibreglass Waves, or being it 100% carbon - a notch stiffer/harder? Also, would that be the same for 25s to medium and 30s to hard? Cheers.

BTW, I'm very happy with my glass Leaders (Stingray fp).

You will find the pure carbons a little stiffer than the equivalent fibreglass blades, not quite soft being a medium etc, but more inbetween the two (if that makes sense!?)

Hi,
I think the "hard" here is rather what you actually would expect to be a "medium" normally, while the Leaderfins "medium" feels pretty "soft"
ivo

I am wanting to upgrade from my first and current pair of fins, which are mares instinct pro camo. Because I haven't used any other fins before I don't know where these come on the stiffness 'scale'. Personally I find them slightly too stiff and was wondering which stiffness leaderfins to get.

any chance you could help me out?

thanks

Medium or Hard
Medium MAY be soft with Mares footpockets, if you are used to plastic. I dont know how Instinct pro blades are, but i think they are stiff, like almost all plastic blades

the blades are not removable, so I would buy the leader f-pockets.
and going by what everyone else has said I may get the hard stiffness
