Bump! Anyone heard anymore about the f10 yet?

Ive sent mail to Doug Krause asking him about F10 release date.. Heres reply:
Hi Semi – we have every intention of having it on the market within the next 60-90 days.

That was 9 days ago.. :)

nice bigggggggg picture on the website! seems to be too close to the D4 price for my liking. lets wait and see some real comparisons. i need to buy a new watch in beginning of July so please hurry ;)

I hope they did incorporate our suggestions in it.
I hope the pc interface is included in that price.
I hope the alarms are loud enough.

And how deep does this one go before before failing and or imploding?
Are there more colour options?

The user replaceable battery is a very nice feature.
Who's going to write a DB review?

I'm not so confident that this will 'blow de D4' out of the water, but let's practice our patience and reserve our judgement until we've tested it thoroughly.

On the Oceanic Website I couldn't find the F10 yet,
But the Geo looks kind of similar:
http://www.oceanicworldwide.com/p_computers_geo_details.html
This one has a max. depth of 100m, so Dave, Martin, William, Guilliaume, Herbert, Natalia, Sara, Ryuzo, Walter, Patrick, it's not for you ;) Unless you plan on scuba diving ;)

Martin already broke his. He head the original F10, that is the one he imploded on his 119m practice dive.

I think the D4 has a stonger case, better build quality. I like my Oceanic, but I think Suunto has a better feel to their gear.

I found the F.10 computer in the following online store. It is shown as "out of stock", but I guess it is rather "not in stock yet"

AERIS F10 FREEDIVING WATCH, FREEDIVERS WATCH, F10 -

They sell it for 590 AUD, which is around 470 USD, or 340€

An email from mates at Frog Dive Centers in Oz is below. It provides some details about this "out of stock" status.

Gday Tobin,

Australia receives the first shipment of the F10 watch in early August. We
have been waiting on the release for over 12 months , and we are taking
orders for the watches now. I have one on my wrist as we speak, and they
will be available in 3 colors ....black, blue and green. Since the D3 watch
from Suunto has been discontinued, the demand for an inexpensive freedive
watch is huge here in Australia. We have placed an add in our local national
magazine expecting great interest in the F10's release. I hope this answers
your questions. Cheers Luke

hi guys,

recently at our oceanic conference here in austyralia Doug left us with a couple of the latest sample stock, i've had one of the original balck one for over a year now for testing and now have the new one. pricing in Australia is about half that of a D4 so pricing verses D4 in your respective markets should be lower by quite a bit. alarms are definetly loud enough for me through a 3mm hood. can clearly here my depth allarms go off for mouthfill target depth etc. i knoew that the imploding issue is being addressed now hence the reason for the delay, i may add that martins was one of the early sample slike my original one and alot of chance have been made in the softwear and it is a cleaner computor to navigate than the D4 (in my opinion). on board viewable dive profile is also now included. all in all VERY satisfied and since the D3 left there as been nothing dedicated to freediviers until now. off the top of my head i'm pretty sure all requirements have been met, nothing i use is missing and that is for both spearing and freediving.

Thank you Diving Dane!

Half the price of a D4? $ 590,- is cheap? yeeesh did Australian dollar turn into toilet paper?

I hope they reinforce it to at least 150m, including the operating depth.
Nice to hear the alarms are loud enough.
In case the pc interface isn't included, how expensive is that?

no just import cost of SUUNTO is huge over here.

AERIS computors are imported into the country we are then slapped with import tax and duty, then sold to a retail store who has to make their markup as well. mind you aus dollor is currently worth about 78US cents so not particularly strong.

as for suunto the importer must not get very good pricing from Suunto international i guess and they have to go through the same process thats Aeris does so thats why they are so expansive here. mind you Aeris warranty with our importer is very good and always handles by dealers so no having to send it across the world costing a fortune then Hoping it comes back, everything is handled in store.

so by comparison it will cost slighlty lessthan a Omer Cayman carbon, Beuchat fibra fins, Rob Allen Carbon railgun etc here in aus so a big step in the right direction and only slightly more than what the D3 left the market for back in the day. so really quite good as far as the local market is concerned.

DD

DD: could you comment on using the f.10 as a safety diver? can you see depth and maybe the stopwatch (elapsed dive time) on the same screen without toggling through menus?

thanks

Thank you Diving Dane!
Same feeling here Diving Dane. Thank you. For an item of this cost, I couldn't make a blind purchase. Reading news of someone actually using it is pretty much one of the only sources I can rely on here.

Update from folks at Frog Dive, Oz:

* Note, no one is paying me to wave a little flag for this store. Just considering the F10 myself. The mates there have been friendly and quick to respond.

Guys as dane said, the price of gear is expensive in aus, so don't think a direct coversion is going to give you relevant market price/value for the watch in your country. A d4 cost almost AU$1000 here, same with the nemo excel, infact my local store advertise the nemo as $1200.

him Guys sorry i've been away a bit 95 day liveaboard spearing trip... back to the real world now.

AZAPA yes you can clearly see your elapsed dive time as well as current depth on the screen at any time during the dive without having to touch anything 9something i regularly use spearing so i know how long i have been under for (safety reasons always keep my dives under 2 min) anyways yes it will meet your requirements as a safety, Spearing or competing freediver.

as for pricing that is the price your pay in our economy and for having the unwavering support of the importer and retail stores to do everything in their power to fix any problems we may have as customers without having to fork out for postage, lost dive time and having to wonder whether goods will ever return. must also understand that wages in australia are also quite strong so im comparison pricing isnt that bad, it is an expensive country to live in but our standard of living is very high with excellent public services (have to be paid from somewhere so up go the taxes)

DD

P.S 5 days, 6 hours a day average of over 100 dives a day and the F10 didnt complain one bit! all be the deepest dive (spearing trip not dedicated freediving) was only 25m.

The F.10 is scheduled to begin shipping in the US mid-July. I've uploaded an admittedly horrible image (will have beautiful studio stuff next week) - as you can see, the cosmetics have changed significantly since the version we had at DEMA and in the catalog. I'll be glad to help answer any questions, but think that DivingDane's real world knowledge is going to be more helpful than mine, but I'll be here if I can help.

that black one certainly looks so much cooler than the yellow Doug. (although I know which one i'd rather accidentally drop of the boat and try to find ;)

can you list is the "top few" online sellers that may have it first? Leisure pro?

We're really happy with the final outcome - as I'm sure you all will be as well. Once we start shipping I can post who's got it in stock -

I've had a look at Diving Dane's one and they do look very snazzy - far far better than a D3 and on par with the D4 (if not better looking). Good size, not too big, and a very easy to read display. Unfortunately I haven't taken one underwater but DD raves about it.

Cheerio,
Ben
