Old Man Dave - sad news.

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
Thank you so much for all your kind words.

This thread was hard for me to post but has turned into a fitting & worthy tribute for my brother.

Dave never desired attention but was always willing to help anyone in need.

He was a humble man, never confrontational but incredibly "right" most of the time!

Practical & academic knowledge combined, makes for an interesting person.
When you add compassion & dedication, you have a very special & unusual person- Dave was that person!

As a family, we would like to thank you all, for providing us with some form comfort during this emotional time.

Dave, I'll see you there, save me a spot by the leeward rail.

A true blue. I would only echo the sentiments of many a poster and say what an amazing fellow he was to hand out so much of his knowledge so freely to to help others. It was such a shock as it seemed to have happened so quickly.

My thoughts are with you during this sad, sad time.

I am stunned. This forum is a poorer place for his loss. Swim to the light, Dave.

I'll add my condolences to this thread. Dave was a one in a million on this forum. He was so many people's friend (both here in the virtual and in real life) and he was always tirelessly helping people and bringing good humour to the forums.

I'll miss him.

My thoughts go out to Foxfish and Dave's family.

What an incredible project that boat refit was.
I would have burst into tears and given up after a week.
Dave's enthusiasm is apparent throughout the whole thing and one can only guess at the levels of knowledge, skill and patience required to complete something like that.
Such skill and yet such modesty, a rare combination indeed.

Mart is there a cause or charity that Dave was fond of?
Or one that the family would like to support?
It would be nice to be able to give a little something in memory of Dave, I'm sure others feel the same.

Terrible news, I am shocked by this.
My regards to the Families involved and best wishes in this most difficult time.
Old Man Dave was a top bloke. Practical, experienced and always willing to share his experience and knowledge. RIP Dave.

A model, a legend, and a gold mine for information, experience, and incredible story's.
R.I.P.O.M.D.

From one flatfish basher to another, Rest In Peace Old Man Dave.

A true gent of Deeperblue. You'll be greatly missed by all those here.

My sincere condolences to Mart and the rest of Dave's family.

Chris.

My dad just pointed this out to me in the paper today. I am shocked and very sorry to hear about this. My condolences.

To reiterate Tom's thoughts that the forum, and especially the C.I pages, just wont be the same without him. Just a few weeks ago he offered to take me looking for flatfish when he started feeling better. A kind man and always willing to help.

My thoughts go to the family. Dave will be greatly missed.

Regards

Nb

Sad news - a gent and a very kind hearted man. We'll miss him.

I heard the news yesterday and was very sad and choked to hear of his passing. I had an email from him 5 days ago looking forwards to taking more flatties next year! He made a deep impression on me and I have two nice teak spearguns primarily thanks to his skills and guidance on this forum. My thoughts and condolensces go out to you and Derek Marty - What a lovely bloke - Its guys like him that leave us all richer for meeting them. RIP OMD.

Dave was a lovely bloke, a real gentleman as so many have said here. I really enjoyed reading of his adventures and i'll miss his contributions terribly. My condolences to the Foxen family and their loved ones, he'll be remembered with huge fondness here in the DB community.

Ben

Rest in peace Dave, you have been a model and source of help to so many in this forum and no doubt to thousands in person throughout your wonderful life. We will all miss you greatly.
My thoughts are with you Mart, Derek and the Foxens.
