Orca Breathe arrival and Trubridge Videos - update

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
Does anyone know if there is any/much differance in glide with the Orca Breath compared to the AquaSphere 0.5mm-1mm swimsuit?

I kind of like the AquaSphere but it is the only suit I have used so it would be interesting to hear from people who tried different ones.

Thanks..

I have both. The difference in glide for me is significant. The quality is by far different. If you manage to take an aqua skin very very tight on you maybe you will get the same result. But I dont think that this suit can hold for many sessions if it fits very tight. Mine is already teared under arms.

The rule applies, you get what you pay. Aqua skin is a very good cheap solution however.

Thank you for input. Saw your previous posts as well..
I'm in the place where I get really glad about the glide of the AquaSphere since I used shorts before. The AquaSphere feels like speedos but with glide for me. I also like that you can dress yourself and don't break into a sweat before going in. I'll only use it in pool and mostly for competition so freezing is not a problem for me.

BUT if the glide is superior in the Breathe, maybe that will compansate for not being able to dress yourself and being too hot.? Although I am not convinced...

the breathe is easy enough to put on, even when sweaty. thin plastic bags help slide your hands and feet in. it does not take more than 2 mins to put the suit on. the back is hard to zip by yourself (I have seen Will do it though) but you can ask a nice pool person to help you.

That is correct. I can confirm I need only two minutes now to get in but a buddy to zip me up (this is good because in this case you make sure that you do no train alone). U can ask one of the pool stuff to do the job however. Otherwise you must train your body to stretch like Will's which he zip his self very easily..

Zipping yourself up in a Breathe is slightly inconvenient but very possible. I prefer it if someone helps, but have done it many times on my own.

As for glide, the weighting in the suit for me means it has the best glide of all the suits I've used.

Ok, thank you for clearing that up..I'll see if I give it a chance, or just train harder for more meters..:)

Hello,

I have bit trouble with sizing since my body type is not typical..
193cm height, 85Kg weight but chest size only 98cm chest :( got long legs and shorter body.

So from height and weight dimension I would choose between 8 or 9 but I am afraid that smaller chest would make wetsuit bit floppy in that area :( Would size 7 be option ?

Thanks a lot for info :)

Size 7 will be too small. I think an 8 would be best for your measurements. You probably won't notice any extra room in the chest, as the suit is designed to be very flexible, and is made tight.

hey everyone, i have a Q regard the orca breathe, i did order size 7 and it was way 2 tight that i could not even zip it, i mean it was just way 2 small, so should i go with size 8 or 9? i am 80 kg, 185cm hight, 97CM chest ?

any advice?

I think bigger size 9 i have torn my in the croach i think to tight puts to much tension on the seams. I am patching it now and am getting intoxicated with glue fumes hope this wont hurt my diving in 9 hours

see above

The orca suits are certainly quality suits

Hi Aimesh,
Though it may seem too small the size 7 is actually the best suit for you for high performance. You will probably need someone to help you zip it up, but once on you will feel like a slippery torpedo in the water! However at this tightnesss it won't last quite as long, so if you want a little more room then go for an 8 (definitely not a 9 though).

Like Semi, my measurements are sligthly off - I'm 'top heavy' with a 113cm chest, waist 88 cm, hips 91 cm, 178cm and 82kg.
Reading your advice on the tight fit, I'd go for a size 8, but then there's the comments on correct height being important for the 'bib'. Which size would you recommend?

(yes, I know my measurements are ridiculous, but I used to lug weigths before I realized that I've been a closet freediver all my life :) )

I'm of similar proportions. Obviously custom is best... but "sleeveless" is a close second.

I'd advise you spend a month freediving in Egypt before you order a suit - then you should comfortably fit an 8 (or maybe even 7!). I was 83kg before I started freediving, with minimal body fat: lost 10kg of muscle in a year, and haven't changed since.
In the meantime you should be able to squeeze into an eight, but the chest measurement is where it will be difficult.

I agree 'bout the better custom and sleeveless solutions; but I have not been able to find a custom offering which is one-piece (and payable), and I'd need sleeves anyhow.

Plus - the Breathe has grown on me - I gotta have it!

Hi Will and thnx for your reply.

Hmmmm, part of the reason for luggin' weights was getting bulky - minus 10kgs seems counter productive to that goal :)

Well, what the heck - I've dropped the weights completely as of December anyhow and switched to swimming, apnea training, yoga - the works.

I'll take your advice and go for a size 8, and see if I can shed some excess 'bulk'.
