Thanks Val, they look OK but I will wait & see if I get a response for the Benthos unit first.
You do have a very good point about the trigger being a very important component though & I love the look of the Benthos mech.
Can you find any more info about it or if anyone else sells Benthos?

Yes it's nice but...Objection:
once the Benthos unit is lodged inside the gunstock, it won't look so much different than nearly any other trigger...

Anyway sorry i can't help with cheaper prices for Benthos. Benthos is greek and they don't have retailers in Italy AFAIK.
But if you wish to combine quality with a pleasant look, I still think you could look into the new Neptonics with rounded edges. Talking of "look", that one looks like no other trigger unit I've seen:

I just bought one of the new Neptonics Tuna Mechs that Spaghetti referenced. It looks to be an attractive and very nicely constructed mech. And you won't find anyone more helpful than Josh (the owner of Neptonics).

now your talking! i just recieved three of those new tuna mechs. i have used josh's triggers on all the guns i made and have had no problems at all. they even accept euroshafts. although i am very interested in these reverse triggers you guys have been posting about. i have never seen these before. it sounds like a great idea to get a little more band pull. seems like more "euro style" to have a european mech in the gun. a tuna mech is a little beefy for 2 bands on a slim euroshaft anyway. plus they are 90$. plus shipping. neptonics makes a reef mech for 55$ that would suffice. but at that point, you may as well go with the euro mechs you were showing before,(i never heard of any of those brands, but they look good, i am interested in seeing more of these) if price were no object, i would definately consider the tuna mech, but it is, so go euro.

for what my opinion is worth....

The new Neptonics trigger IS top knotch, VERY smooth, will take just about any amount of power you will brave loading it with, is designed for an american shaft (square knotch) but you can load a euro shaft in it. I filed the end of one of my riffe euro shafts down till it engaged, loaded it with 4 power bands and had no troubles. I banged it around and put it through some heavy abuse and it didnt fail.

the only negative thing I have to say about Josh is that he tends to slack on shipping, and I have had two orders now that have come incomplete which can be very frustrating when you have waited for 2 months for the original order.

All the same he has always delivered the said items (to me atleast) and everything I have ordered from him has been top quality.

Just let him know that you want your order in a reasonable amount of time.

I will be ordering from him again... soon

I build my own but after seeing the new Neptonics I have decided to use Josh's on my next gun. I agree with Tin Man 100%.

I was under the impression that Neptonics units wont match to a euro spear?
I dont really fancy modifying shaft ends especially if the gun end up in someone else's hands.

Yeah... I agree. The only reason I did so was because I had no other shaft to test the ballast of the gun.

Plus I want would really like to see the build with the reverse trigger... up until this thread I didnt even know they existed.

I know that Neptonics offers the "Reef" mech in either a square notch or euro notch configuration, and either of those is available with or without the auto resetting line release. I don't think all of those options are on the website, but if you call or email Josh he can set you up.

And if you asked for a Tuna mech with a Euro sear, I bet Josh could take care of that as well.

Thanks Tin man, I have in fact brought stuff from Neptonics before but it took an age to arrive however I cant deny the units look fantastic & have the very best reputation.
I will give them some more thought....

Company C4 does not sell their trigger units separate from guns, unfortunately, but maybe you can PM Nata asking her if she can make an exception for you and send you one, with the excuse of it being a "spare" part...
I don't know if the attempt to get one from C4 may be successful or not, but it's worth a try. Those triggers are awesome. Mine is 10 years old, never had maintenance and it still feels clit-sensitive. They look like this (SS cassette and mech with titanium drilled trigger):

I have been searching the web but no joy other than what have been mentsioned.
So Benthos + 105 euro = $145 = £92. or go state side for 1/2 the cost...
Going to keep looking for a bit longer..

When I imported my titanium knife from Florida USA it cost $13 (£8) for postage door to door. Pretty good for 5000 miles across the Atlantic. That was using the smallest of the USPS (United States Postal Service?) pre-paid boxes. I'm sure a trigger would fit in the box.

still think the reverse trigger idea is the way to go, neptonics definetly make a nicetrigger no doubt but i think the extra band pull of the reverse trigger set up will be very beneficial .

if you do buy neptonics, definately get it from here ScubasWorld it only costs 5% more than neptonics for super fast delivery ,(usually ships same day as order) he has everything in stock. josh ,(at neptonics) goes spearing all over the world and doesnt have time to ship stuff out. i have never waited more than two weesks for spearfishworld delivery. i have waited over two months AVERAGE for neptonics to deliver. they got pushrods etc. also. plus a bunch of euromechs to choose from also. check them out.

Jason, thanks for the tip but I really want the reverse mech because I feel it will match the new guns style - one way or another I will order a unit today.
To be honest most of the work on this gun will be based around making the CF backbone.
To make a + section with a fitted trigger & built in rail is going to be a real challenge for me. (hopefully Phil & Tin man will be around)
So not so much wood shaping on this one.
When I do my shaping, unlike many people I dont always have a plan to work to by just get on with it using the tools mentioned.
To be honest I dont have a problem doing this & I seem to be able to produce interesting shapes as I go along just using my eye as a guide.
When I was at school I discovered I could manipulate modeling clay into realistic shapes just like that! its just something I can do.

Instead of a " + " shape for the carbon fiber backbone, what about an " X " shape? That way, the rail or track can be housed in wood, and need not be integral to the CF backbone. I would have to do the math, but I don't think you will sacrifice significant strength. And most of the things that go into a gun are installed on the centerline (trigger mech, handle, line anchor, etc.), so it might be easier if there wasn't a vertical CF member.
