Just been in at meadfoot vis is clearing at last, out to about 3 m maybe. Lots of sandeel and launce seen a few spiders but no silver. I went in on a flood tide would the ebb prove any better?

I looked at Babbacombe yesterday afternoon and at high tide it looked good 3 metres vis , went in nearby at low tide today and it was dreadful 1 metre max , Torbay so often dissappoints , will be going further afield tomorrow! Terry....

Hi guys!

I'm travelling down from Cambridge for 4/5 days down in Plymouth this weekend. I want to get plenty of spearing in so I would much appreciate any advice/tips on where to go. Or if anyone is out, I'd love to tag along.

Many thanks,

Jamie

Anyone been in Exmouth-Budleigh Salterton way recently and got an idea of what the vis is like?.
Might try and hit high tide this afternoon

Been to south coast of Cornwall all week. One big bass seen and missed. Viz awesome though.

WHERE ARE THE FISH! Lol!

Yikes! well hopefully a few days of calm weather have settled things down. Haven't been out in so long, feeling the need to get wet after work!

Just ran teignmouth to dawlish warren, both looking brown especially the warren. Would think exmouth would be the same, hopefully exmouth boys might know budleigh way.

4m vis at Meadfoot around midday today - great conditions, thousands of bait fish but apart from that incredibly few fish around and no silvers seen.

Maybe the gill net in the next bay has taken its toll? :rcard

Dived Hope Cove area today , covered a lot of ground , one big shoal of small bass seen, but very little else , great conditions 6-8 metres vis , took home 4 very large spider crabs . Terry....

Hi All,
Budleigh is horrendous. Divers have told me the bottom at 12m is black. Scallops have died and rotted in their shells. Terrible.
Tribs
Out

Glad I decided against it yesterday. Think I'll head plymouth way tomorrow instead

Torbay is as about as clear as it gets at the moment ! up to 8 metres off the Orestone , most other areas about 5 metres , I do not think it is very fishy anywhere at the moment though !! Terry....

I agree. Beautiful conditions but saw nothing but pretty average sized pollack and strangely a couple of big shoals of Wrasse, 30-40 wrasse all different sizes.

Left with a couple of good sized crabs

I broke my Torbay cherry for 2013 this weekend. Unsurprisingly it was not very fishy. the viz varied from 3-6 m and I found the better viz in the stronger currents. I only saw one bass drifting downtide and a took a couple of average pollack for dinner. After an hour I gave up and moved a little deeper to some ledges in search of some crab for lunch. I landed right on top of two lobsters having a scrap. Bingo ! One in each hand it took me about 15 minutes to get to my float, detach a net bag and get them inside it. Not to mention trying to get my snorkel back in my mouth without having a lobster hanging off each ear. Spent about 45 mins on the ledges and picked up a few more shellfish. The bigger lobster was 5lb on the button.

Good haul there Dave L, nice one.

Plymouth dive last night, 3-4m vis, bit milky. Some bass about - but managed to miss 2 shots and came out with nothing. Frustrating.

Nice one dave. How big did the pollack go?

Diddn't weigh it mate. It was on my plate 2hrs after it left the water wearing some beer batter

Nice catch!
Now I like Pollock to eat, it is a very bland & delicate flavoured fish but it is one of the very few fish that can be left in the fridge for a day - not just to improve the flavour but to completely transform it!
After two days I find it far too fishy for my taste but some of my English 'inland' friends don't consider a fish to be any good unless in is on the verge of decomposition LOL
Anyway fresh Pollock is nice in batter
