i told you all now because you will have to wait for the viz to clear so you will all have to waitrofl rofl . Were i put the red blob on the picture is abouts were it is so you will still have to search for it :D

Interesting. I assume it was put there on purpose then? Or having seen numerous vehicles at the bottom of the cliffs around Torbay did it get there by some other means!! Must have taken a big run up off the cliff to get it that far outrofl

jez, if you dont mind it would be nice to hear how your ear op goes, how long in hospital, did it hurt and how long before the quacks let you get it wet?!.
good luck.

Wow spearheads you brave.

How thick is your suit im using a 5mm surf wetsuit and I freeze in it.

5mm custom elios (very warm)oh also i will have the pictures up on sunday. The camera makes the fish look much smaller (not a excuse)

i am diving Saturday also now as the weather is looking ok. going to try ansties cove as it is quite shelted. There are tonnes of pollock down there so i think if i can find some deep water there will be some big ones :)

Scottwilson most of these guys are using spearo wetsuits. I like you used to use a 5mm surfers wetsuit and couldn't understand how people dived beyond the summer. I really couldn't believe how warm a spearo suit is. A good surfers winter suit costs £200 - £250! The spearo suits cost about £150. Good value if your used to buying wetsuits for surfing.

wow PAV thats not bad going I had a look on the elios website and they got some real nice suits on there.

I'm tempted to go for camo but I'll get ribbed by my mates. and there biggest suit is too small for me. I reckon March/April next year I'll take the plunge and get one, just in time to go to portland on the course they offer :t

I can fully recommend the suits and buying them through Dave at Spearo UK. I have bought a 5 mm black nylon outer and open cell inner about 2 years ago - no regrets a brill buy. And as for the Camo bit and people ribbing you - I now regret not buying the 5mm in Camo in the forst place - I didn't do it for the same reason I thought the same with my mates. Actually they take P*** out of me anyway so I might as well have been hung for a cow as a loaf of bread.

Since then I have just bought the 7mm Camo suit from Dave and tried it out two days ago in the Sea off Oddicombe. It requires extra weighting (about 50% again over the 5mm) but is lovely and warm. You do have to watch out for the extra negative bouyancy at depth though due the effect of crush on the 7mm.

i got a 7mm elios off spearo, i ordered it custom, at the same time i measured up the misses and added the "female " measurement bits.. and added them to the sheet afew days later i sent off the measurements forgetting to take off her bits. 2 weeks later got a call from dave asking Um er diplomatically was i of normal build as the cutters were concerned at my shape and wanted to double check before cutting and glueing... . good service i think.
its looking good for bigbury bay this weekend. minimal swell and off shore, i dived last tues and viz was 2mts, saw 3 fair bass but no shot in. loads of big pollock and school bass. but swell has been small and wind off shore last 2 days so viz should be loads better.

A size 6 cressi Tenica 5mm camo Delivered is £143.20 man thats tempting

Would make a nice warm winter surf suit as well, you could get your board painted to match.

Dived ansties cove today with a total catch of nothing. The viz was ok but there was a tiny bit of a swell. Saw one bass wich was only just over the limit so i left him also saw on mullet but was gone be fore i could move the gun oh well:) . Nice to be in the water but it is getting colder. I think i might try oddicombe or meadfoot tomorrow.:)

Dived odddicombe beach today and once again nothing. I saw some bass but they were tiny the looked like they had just been born:inlove . I hit one golden grey mullet but it came of :head . I also saw loads of big starfish feeding on the muscles and 4 big edible crabs but i left them all as i had no were to put them on my flout and 1 scollop. Still it was a nice dive as the water was crystal clear about 7 meteres. I think that might be my last dive as its getting cold my toes and fingers are still recovering.:)

dived bigbury bay on sat, fantastic viz, 10mts verticle and 8 horizontal but as spearheads did not see any fish, afew dog fish, one bass at a distance. but the viz made up for it. strong currents with the spring tides, water temp dropped i think with the off shore wind down to 13 deg. as i had 15 deg 4 days before. im going to get up first light tues to pull a pot and dive, hopefully see/spear some fish.

The reason i think i didnt see any bass was because it was a very long low tide and i never see many fish in the bay on a low tide they must go out deeper when they tide goes out. The weather is looking good this week i hope it holds till the week end. I must get some gloves as my fingers almost dropped of from the cold:)

Dived Thurlestone today. Usual abundance of big wrasse and small pollack but only saw two bass (one big), both out at The Books, and they were both swimming away from me at quite a speed. The viz was great, 8m+ in places, so it was a great dive and I took the opportunity to have a good look round the wreck of the Louis Shied. I saw my first ever out in the open lobster on the wreck - if only I had had a bag to put him in! Busy few weeks ahead so probably the last dive of the year but good to end on such a clear day.
I'll have to leave the hunt for Spearhead's rock to next year!
