sorry rascolour, i don't know that area too much except st. Justinians, never caught any bass over that way anyway though. Think you were there for ideal conditions, sea has been excellent vis 'til this wild weather came in. Have been snorkelling, with and without speargun but haven't shot anything yet this year, picked up afew decent spider crabs though, one real specimen size, it's either the biggest i've caught or the crab with the biggest claws i've ever caught, either way heaps of delicious meat on it. That was Cwm-yr-eglwys, Dinas head. Have caught some bream beach fishing, first uk bream i've caught, i think they are a fairly warm water species so it might be a sign of incoming triggers etc. Mullet and Bass are both in in good numbers round here now, hoping to finally find some mackerel whilst free diving this year, apparently they look like an underwater tornado.

No no, it's absolutely fine mate, Liv didnt want to come anyway, much rather stay home in the NE...

THANKS PETE

we end up in water only once vis 1,5 meters so not mutch to see nice place to visit for next time.
happy hunting.
take care

Not alot of vis around St David's. The next few days of good weather will make a few spots fishable though thankgod!

good visibility at traeth mawr newport today. The shallows were choked up with smashed up seaweed but by 8ft deep the visibility was very good, might plan a snorkel for this week.

2 bass in about 5 minutes today. Vis was appalling but is definatley starting to clear at a few spots. Should be good conditions by the end of the week if the wind stays away.

Did you manage to get in again Pete?

Went on hols for a week in st davids but was with mates so i didn't get much chance to dive. Got in on the first sunny day and was delighted with the vis. pretty good as soon as you get out a bit from the breakers. Saw tons of wrasse and small pollack but no bass. one great sign was shoal after shoal of sandeels and a few lance so the bass cannot be far off. Second dive later in the week, much better vis even though it wasnt as sunny. saw a small bass, about 3lb i estimate, from the surface. I dived down to take a closer look but it had dissapeared. Was surrounded by a school of small pollack every time i dived which was fun. Managed to pick out the biggest one, i reckon just under a couple of pounds, and got a shot at him. My mates who were paddling around in the kayak on top said they saw joey mackerel jumping out of the water a couple of times in the middle of the bay and if that isn't a sure sign of big bass i don't know what is. On the way back saw a school of three mullet ghosting around in about 5ft of water. after about 15 minutes of chasing them around i gave up. no amtter hbow stealthy i was they always remained just out of shooting range. The amount of large wrasse in the bay is staggering, some of them easily topping 5lbs. Must remember to bring down a light spinning rod next time with a few soft plastics for some sport fishing. Also a load of spiders in the bay but the ones i bothered to bring upto the kayak to freak out my mates were undersized.

Landed this handsome fish this afternoon. id only been out 15 mins when he shot out of the weed. Vis OK 3-4M loads of jellies and loads of sealife, spiders on the move all over the place, huge shoals of bait fish.

The worst Summer spearfishing in 15 years. Down yesterday. Been in once this year for 2 metres of pea soup. Losing the will with the UK weather.
