'the spot' is dead.
moved on and found this in the most unlikely place - next to a rock on some seaweed in broad daylight. I think its a plaice (it looked a lot lighter in colour than the photo suggests) but feel free to correct me if its a flounder.
it was 3lb 4oz on my rubbishy spring scales. a nice thick fish though.

Nice size fish Chris - I think it's a plaice however am not an expert - Old man Dave will know for sure.....

Where to tomorrow night gents?
Looks like high tide is just before 9pm, so a rising tide, not that it makes any difference to my catch................... zero.
Anyway, looks like more westerlies.
Will it be Durlston or Newton's Cove, will it be Sansfoot or Portland Bill, will it be...................(sing it, you know how it goes, maybe not Toni or Cesar though)
We'll have to wait & see.
Going a little stir crazy with the lack of fish, maybe they can smell me from a mile off & avoid me.

They will come mate, patience is a must in our hobby. The fish are certainly around! How did the Lulworth dive go for everyone last week?

Looks like a flounder from where I'm sitting (they have a way of losing their spots once they are out of the water).
I'm not around for the club dive tomorrow - off to Plymouth for the week (should be back for the week after though).

A good sized crab was had by Ben, Paul Smith had a mullet & a Bass, I think Cear had a Mullet & some pollock.
4 of us went in at Stair Hole & it was a bit rough; for me anyway, Ben & Paul went west, Cesar stayed around Stair Hole & I swam over to the Cove, saw a couple of good sized mullet, lots of pollock, that was about it.
That's about it.
Back to the dive tomorrow, I am up in Reading, but hopefully I can get down in time.

Did anyone get out last night?
I was in Reading yesterday & didn'y get back till late. I actually turned up at about 6.30pm, but I didn't see anyone down at Durlston, it was looking quite choppy. Plus a bit dodgy getting down the bank onto the rocks.

I could not go either,unfortunately cannot make it tonight and next weekend I am going sailing til tuesday in Wales,If I return on time I ll try to go with you next tuesday.

Yeah we all got in at Swanage in the end at various times lots of small Bass seen and a few bigger, don't know what mine weighed but it was probablya 2lb'er - gutted at sea so no weight...
Vis wasn't the best at 2-3m but it was fishable, didn't get back home (Southampton) until 0030 hrs and up early to frive to Yeovil, did not want to wake up this morning!
All well worth it though as it always is.

Ha ha it was everything but a :rcard - I consider my hand well and truely slapped! I wrongly presumed the whole area was Swanage, but thats what you get when you have a hampshire hog spearfishing in Dorset! roflrofl
It wasn't about that mate. I was just trying to be a bit more specific so that people in the wider public didn't think that we were fishing under the pier - because that tends to upset the bubble-blowers and causes friction.
We all know that SCUBA divers 'own' and have sole rights to the pier, and that these rights can be traced all the way back to the Magna Carta. And we know this because that little angry bloke who comes around in his boat, telling spearfisherman to clear off, says so.
And now it looks as though I've ended up drawing attention to it, rather than diverting it away - oh well.

I been in the water yesterday the weather was promising a good NW winds so I thought that the visibility in Durlstone could be great but it wasnt has I expected,it was a bad but fishable 3 metres and I had 2 nice bass.Now what i want to ask to the experts or to someone that has got a better knowledge (maybe Paul or Gas?)Why it was bad visibility if the winds where NW? There is any other reason that something else could effect it? Cheers.
