Kervyn,

If your Lunocet "vertebrae" are of different thicknesses (left vs. right), send me a picture with them measured and your mailing info and I'll track these issues for Ted for replacement.

A slight lateral deflection of the fin / flukes when under uneven load doesn't necessarily mean that there are manufacturing tolerance issues.

The best way to determine is to measure the thickness of the top-edge of both parts of both vertebrae, ideally in mm.

I'll check and let you know...Will try to get hold of a vernier caliper for precise measurements...

I ordered it on the 17-March-2014. Got a tracking number from Ted on Friday 13th March 2015.

Nice one, Fredd. Very much like mine. Just had notification that it's in the depot. Paid up the duty (same amount as you) and expecting delivery on Saturday.

I hope your pool is generous. Luckily I have several pool sessions a week that I can try mine out in. Just got to keep everyone else's hands off it!

WHO THE HELL WOULD HAVE THOUGHT after all this time that getting a tracking # on Fri the 13th and then receiving it on April fools day was the magic answer!?!?

Oh, great. So you can ask replacement parts for me too. I had those documented in this thread in december, but Ted totally ignored everything, just raising questions about my technique.

Back in Dec I wrote "But those two plastic pieces between axles are not identical. From thinner end another is 7,5mm thick, while another partly 7mm and having most of the surface 6,5mm. I can clearly see that cutter/tool used in workshop has had 2 different depth settings, another 0,5mm deeper, but leaving the area partly 'drilled'..".

Scroll back to see it in video too. Sure, I made my own quick-fix with washers, but proper parts should be included bh warranty..

@Fredd Great news for you! Still I cannot help it but feel a bit of envy (of the good one!), since I still haven't received even the tracking number... and my order was more than a month before yours...7th of February 2014
@Grimorkin And it seems you are the next! cool. I just hope this trend continues...

I've waited for months for specialized shoes to come in, only to find out that the bolt patters don't match (could only get 2 out of the 3 bolts in)...!!! Had to resort to cheapo shimanos, where the mounting holes can be shifted to match the bolt patterns on the lunocet...

I have had a few swims with the Lunocet now, but can't seem to get the hang of it... It doesn't seem to be laterally stable... leading to uneven kicks... My set has some side play, so I'm not sure if that's what's causing it... Also, it seems to be less efficient than my Previous Fibreglass monofin... i.e more kicks and more perceived effort to get moving (and I was using an extra stiff mono - Leaderfin Hyper pro)...
...

Kerwyn, I experienced both issues also!

1) Bolts: I had LAKE shoes with BOA fastening - didn't match, only 2 / 3 holes at the time. Tried Shimano and XLC shoes, an they fitted perfectly. Verdict: Poor manufacturing tolerance in some shoes, not in Luno

2) As soon as my Luno's spring was 'broken-in', increasing lateral play which made the fin really picky, restless and inefficient. I documented it in videos, and eventually solved it by installing stainless steel washers to axle through delrin vertebrae, which eliminated the excessive movement. Verdict: poor manufacturing tolerance in Luno.

Having researched this myself along with some other people it turns out that it is nigh-on impossible to find a definitive spec for the positioning of the Look shoe bolts. There is quite literally nothing on the internet, not even the patent defines the distances between them although, to be fair, I've never tried contacting Look myself. Comparing three makes showed that the two rear bolts were the most similar distance between but the third, front, whole varied noticeably. Another point to take into account is the width of the shoes. Some manufacturers make wide fitting models that can put the inside edges closer together that you might be expecting. Bont are an example of this, their anatomically design foot beds are wider than your fancy Italian Sidi shoes, for example, which is great for comfort and sizing of the shoe to accommodate a 5mm fin sock but also worth checking both shoes on a fin for side-by-side alignment.

I'm going to cross-post this comment on the thread about "cycling shoes for monofin use":

https://forums.deeperblue.com/threads/cycling-shoes-for-monofin-use.100143/

I've worked with Ted to create a "hybrid" bolt pattern for the Lunocet Pro that will accommodate 98% of shoes on the market.

Lunocet Pros that ship later this month should have this revised spec I believe.

I'm currently using an older pearl izumi tri shoe and it dries amazingly and is light.

I also have a pair of Sidi tri shoes (leather) and they are made like custom Italian loafers... And I have wide feet!?

The Lake shoes didn't stand up to water / chlorine AND the plastic sole cracked on both shoes.

One week ago Ted sent me a tracking and even posted a picture of the package he wanted to send - see above dated the 19th (by the way ignoring any data privacy). Now US Postal STILL shows "Pre-Shipment Info Sent to USPS" as of today - so we can clearly say this was another fake. Apparently Ted made an effort to fake a parcel but never made en effort to put anything INTO it or send it off.

Oh, or maybe USPS made a mistake again ? Curious to learn about the next "explanation" ...

I don't think it's a mistake... I ordered and paid my fin 3 months ago, and guess what... yeah still nothing.
Apparently the fin was in stock and ready to ship from the beginning, was sent at least 3 times.. and yet here I am empty handed and getting upset. Thinking about asking for refund, which doesn't make me happy as I was looking forward to get one.
Can't really recommend Ted's product, not because they're bad, but the service is...

More than six month ago I ordered a Lunocet Pro from Ted. Although getting several confirmations that the fin will be sent out 'the next days' I never received anything - like quite some other people here.

I then canceled my order on 9-March-2015 and requested refund via PayPal until Mar-15th. Again no reaction from Ted, no refund.
On Mar-20th he wrote he has 'completely caught up' and asked for an address (which I provided him 6 month ago...) for delivery - completely ignoring my request for refund.
Just to demonstrate my good will I agreed to give him a last chance and replied him on Mar-23rd that I would accept the fin if I would receive a proof for shipment within one week.

As expected I fruitlessly waited again.

Thus, on April-1st I ultimately canceled my order and again asked for refund.

I yet have not got any response from Ted except the usual automated reply that proves he has received the mail.
Sending me my money should not take more than five minutes to log into PayPal and start the transfer.

Ted Ciamillo, if you read this please be aware that I am not gonna wait for refund another six months before taking further actions to enforce my claims.
I do not want this fin anymore nor your elaborate excuses, I simply want my money back - immediately. Period.

Spoke to Ted today, looks like some mixup with dates, so my fin should be on the way tomorrow...

I've followed development of the Luno since the disastrous review in DB years ago, and watched the increasing tide of complaints by customers who never received their fins. At first it looked like incompetence by a maker who had no concept of the importance of customer service, but, as I've watched, it becomes more and more apparent that fraud is a much better description. Fraud is a crime in the US. There is some indication that the amount of money is substantial. The consumer fraud department in the state where the manufacturer is located(Georgia?) might well be interested. I suggest that somebody who has been injured, call'em

Wish you all the best with regards to this promise, but I would not bet too much on it's fulfillment based on my personal experience...

Please keep us informed if you receive the fin - and also if not.

At least you get some sort of reply.........

Update on my post (#718) from yesterday: got a phone call from Ted today where he requested my account details for the refund transfer, as he stated he has no PayPal account anymore.
Mailed him the details today and keep fingers crossed I will finally get at least my money back.
Will keep you posted on the proceedings...

Guys,

I promised an explanation for the order in which I shipped but I wanted to get caught up first and have those older orders on the way. They are and I am caught up. I was also waiting on some of the tracking numbers to become active before sending those numbers out due to the problems cited earlier. Early in the year I had someone handling the scheduling for me so there may be some I missed - If you have not received a tracking number please send me an email to tciamillo@gmail.com. If I missed someone I am able to take care you right away as I have 5 in stock now.

...

This is behind me now. This year all of my machines will be paid for. I have Lunocets in stock for the first time. Moving forward I am turning control of customer service and fulfillment over to Ultimate Swim Fin. USF has a policy of immediate shipment from stock. The comfort is about to be raised to proof of shipment within 48 hours or it will be free.

Customer service can be addressed to Jeff Watson at Ultimate Swim Fin, sales@ultimateswimfin.com

Thank you all for your patience over the last year.

Hi Ted, when I read this post of yours I was very happy and hopeful to finally put an end to the long wait (3 months for me ATM) and get the fin. What a fool I am!
Unfortunately it was just another trick of yours to buy time from your customers. I emailed you as you required but you never replied with proof of shipment(again). Despite your promises, the fin hasn't been shipped as the USPS status is still "pre-shipment" like 3 months ago.
@cdavis is right, this behaviour can be considered fraud.

Now my patience is finished. I am really astonished seeing that you have been able to keep many of your customers in this situation for more than a year and they are still willing to listen to your words and wait for the fin. Well, I am not one of them. It is not right, I don't want and I can't. I am a PhD student and 600$ for me is not little money.

I formally ask you immediate refund or shipment of the fin. If the situation does not evolve in the next week I will contact other customers in my situation and bring matters further as cdavis suggested.

Just want to add that i just discovered this forum "http://weightweenies.starbike.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=99665&start=15" by typing in google "ciamillo fraud". People were accusing Ted of fraud back in 2012! I should have done more research on Ted's business before buying the fin...
guys, open your eyes, Ted has been playing this game for a very long time. it is time for things to change.

So, this label Ted posted after your initial complaint wasn't your package (from post #634)? https://tools.usps.com/go/TrackConfirmAction?tLabels=CV033571629US

I had assumed this was taking care of your order to Australia. Sorry to hear that you are still waiting.

Did this box go to anyone on the forum? Does anyone on the forum know of someone in Australia that received a Lunocet around the end of March? The freediving community is a pretty small crowd. If someone got a Lunocet delivered, it seems there'd be a chance someone on DB would know something about it. If you do, please speak up!

Hi Revan,

I wish that was me...I wouldn't be raging on the forum.
This is mine
