On the south coast today. Found some shelter, but not feeling like summer! Took 3 Mullet for my parents freezer, but the 2 Bass I came by did not offer themselves. The best fish swam behind some weed and I figured I'd track it and take a better shot on the other side, rather than rush or take a blind shot. It however just vanished

they got nasty teeth which they love to sink into a nice fleshy arse and they dont die! you have been warned 
weather is pants. forgot to say they taste really really good, fillet and skin them and you will be left with some firm white meaty fish put my last lot in a marinade then grill them bloody lovely ill dig the recipe out!
right then you will need
2tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons fruit chutney
1 tablespoon honey
1 tablespoon chopped fresh coriander
2 cloves garlic, crushed
4 fish fillets of your choosing (triggerfish is good because its nice and firm and doesnt fall apart)
chuck it all in a dish mix together add the fish leave it for 1 hour min then grill or bbq

Well shoot them in the head, then you wont have a problem with turning on you, Because its dead!
you can shoot where you like but they dont die even after a good stabbing :blackeye hard as nails i say

Went in on the north coast today. 15 ish Bass Shoal kept coming in, but nothing of size. Ended up collecting a few muscles to have in the van to later be told by the old man he would always opt for south coast muscles as all the cornish sewage is pumped out on the north coast .
Damn.. could it stop raining for just 1 day!

I've been in on the North Coast nr. Pendeen and St Ives in the last few days and a couple of dives on the lizard. Other than the fish I had at the start of the week I have seen very little.
With wife and kids at the moment but I think once conditions are a little more favourable I'll be doing a solo mission to the south coast in the Van.
Fingers crossed for some calm seas and light southeastlies to clear my local spots up!

Tagged along with my good lady and some of her friends (and their mentalist sprogs) as they went to the beach on the south coast. Went in for a snorkel (no gun) in my retro two-piece sharkskin suit. The vis was superb - easily 8m, saw mullet, Bass, wrasse and my first Thornback Ray. It was just sat there on the sand in six or so meters of water. Having way too much lead on I was able to lie down in front of it, it was really chilled out. No way I could shoot one - too tame, too beautiful.
Of all the creatures in the sea, rays have the most amazing eyes. On big blonde rays the pupils are S shaped and flecked with gold. Beautiful.

Managed to get in on the south coast yesterday. Viz not great but ok in patches. I'm starting to think I need a float at this spot now - expensive ribs have invaded from somewhere though no doubt they'll be gone in a few weeks. I'm not sure they know how shallow some of the submerged rocks are either, judging by how close they race next to the shore.
Anyway, bagged 2 average sized bass (missed 4 others, my hit rate is not that of Badlander to be sure). Came across some very entertaining 10-15cm brill - they look like they'd be great whole in a frying pan but left them to their mini antics.
I did however manage to bugger up my gabbiano spear, putting a 15degree kink in it. Straightened it out round my knee but I think it's time to get a replacement (it's lasted 4-5 years so can't complain). Anyone know where to get a gabbiano 90 spear if Dave Spearo T doesn't have one?

Whats going wrong with my summer?!
Started off with a succession of 5 Bass at the start of the season in local waters (which were unusually clear!), and then have bombed out since with trips away only collecting odd Mullet. The few good sized Bass I've spotted have bolted and despite long dives none have come back in.
Continued rain! and gutless waves that have done nothing but ruin the local viz.
I swear this weather won't ruin my summer so pushed out in the Yak last night to collect some mackeral. NONE! :head
Its August!! I should be collecting shrimps from the rockpools, catching mackeral on my spinning rod from the beach and stalking Bass with my speargun and lighting the BBQ each evening.
