Got in after work for a session tonight. Had some new Mares Razors to try. Very different.
Paid off. While vis wasn't great I did bag 2 good bass and a mullet. Saw more mullet and bass than I have before. Hopefully a good sign. Was gutted to loose a bigger bass that managed to wriggle off the spear as I grabbed it. But still chuffed with a decent catch.

Being a newbie I thought I'd go that way, I think there is also a line of thought that they suit cold water better too. Big bonus for me was that I could get them locally and you can change the blade without them breaking the bank. Think I may want to try some different thickness socks to see how that changes the feel. Started with 2mm and feel like I could get in them with a thicker sock for a more positive feel in the pocket.
Got in again last night and bagged another decent pair of Bass. Both sessions probably covered 3 miles so the new fins must be good because I can still walk.
Just deciding if anywhere local will be worth a shout tonight. Although also thinking I could do with resting tonight.
Got Friday off so thinking about where to go with the wind shifting to the south but a building swell? Could combine a kayak and spearo session. Any good ideas greatfully recieved (by pm ;-) )

Cheers shiny1 do you know if it gets very busy on the day as parking can be a nightmare at Talland at the best of times.

Well the LIC/BSA National Comp is slowly but surely coming together.
As usual food will be available from the Talland Bay Cafe.
Car Parking will be £2.50
There will be a pasty, choice of tray bake (flapjack, chocolate muffin or a
caramel slice) and a tea for each competitor after they have completed there
stint in the water this is included in your entry fee.
The competition area will be the same as last year including the stretch of
coastline south of Polperro harbour.
We hope to see you all down there.

Fish As per National Rules (Dog Fish, Congers and Wrasse Excluded,

Picked up a nice new Cressi spearo suit earlier and got the day off tomorrow so going to give the south coast a go to try the new suit out. Anticipating poor vis.
Was plugging on the north coast earlier and vis looks reasonable, so might give that a go in the pm if possible, but got a lunch date to fit in and doubt a camo cressi suit will be approipriate lunch attire.
Fat and full right now having dined on bass and mullet. Yum.

Dived a new spot last night. I wasn't really too bothered about the beach as i really wanted to check out kayak launching to access a spot surrounded by cliffs a good paddle away. The further towards the direction i intend to kayak the more fish i saw. I think i will be in for some good spearing when i get further up on my kayak. I still managed to bag a nice 2-2.5lb bass for dinner.

Best of luck with it Gutshot. I think locating and trying new places is one of the most exciting things in spearfishing. Sooner or later you get lucky and find a real good one.
Got out for a few hours earlier. Vis was very poor, but it seemed like it was marginally better amungst the weed. Saw 1 mullet and what might have been a bass but was on a hiding to nothing to bag anything. New suit was very toasty, but I found it odd having my ears covered.
Conditions aren't looking good for the comp tomorrow.
