Wish I could go, unfortunately work beckons... (actually less of a 'beckoning', which implies suggestion and the possibility of refusal, it is more of 'work demands')

Have fun and take care,

M

Work is getting in the way of me being free in the morning, but later in the afternoon is good for me. I know it's high tide though, but there must be a way round that. Look forward to it.

New training session every monday night 7pm gorbals leisure centre in Glasgow all welcome

Great to see a training session going again :)
What do you think the sessions will cost and what is the best way of getting there from Edinburgh ?

Cheers,

M

Hi

THe lane cost us £8.20 per week, we ask a contribution of £3 per session (but you do not need to pay entrance to the pool, which is £2.50) so that we can cover the cost over time.
BEst way to get there from Edinburgh is via M8 into glasgow exit junction 15 cathedral take the high street all the way down across town, pass the tron gate, under the railway bridge, pass the albert bridge and then turn left you cannot miss the leisure centre.
PLease not the next monday the 30th the pool is closed as it is a bank holiday

Cheers

Great, it is much cheaper than the commonwealth pool used to cost us here in Edinburgh! The main expense will be in getting to Glasgow... better pump up the bike tyres!

:)

What are people's thoughts on diving tomorrow? I know from painful experience how windy it's been down the Firth of Forth, and with so much wind and wave activity I'm not exactly hopeful for good viz. Tomorrow the wind looks like it's due to die down a bit and swing round to the South, but my guess is after the past couple of days, it's probably not worth the trip.

Any other thoughts?

Ben

Magicseaweed.co.uk agrees :)
The wind will be low because it will be coming up the country from the south, same for the wave action. You might be lucky ... Next weekend looks a mess, so perhaps you have the best shot tomorrow?

Hi Guys!
I am back from SA and my spears om my guns are bored and getting rusty. Has anyone been out for a spear session along the west Coast recently? I am keen to get in the water if any one is keen... send me an PM with your number so we can arrange something....

Cheers.

I've been laid up with essays the past two weeks but come tuesday I'll be free! (Apart from in class tests). As I'm heading up to Shetland soon I'm hoping to get as much as possible after tuesday as it would be great to get at least one fish on the mainland.
Will keep you posted on if I head out.

Anyone fancy going in on the west coast near ayr or anywhere in the area, let me know as I am looking for a dive buddy.

I went in for a dive today. Vis was about 4 to 5 meters but alot of plankton about. Water temp was 13 and I saw NIL fish :-( was in for an hour and 20 min.
Anyone knows where the fish are?

Hi all, I'm Robert

Can I join you next monday?
I'm from Glasgow.
I've recently done a AIDA **, and then SSI level 2. Freediving is new for me but I LOVE it. It's great to know that there are people who are interested in it in Scotland.
Cheers.

RE Ayrshire Freediving

Without a bout it is hard to find depth in Ayrshire water. Half a mile out the depth is still only 12m. Fish are few and far between untill end of august begining of september when you will start to see the occasional pollock or bass round about girvan. Vis this time of year is about 5-6m max because of plankton bloom. This can be good though as every year we have basking sharks in close to the shore around July august time. If you are looking for depth largs is your best bet. Our club Crystal clear apnea do depth every weekend at largs so if people are interested then please join us. Fell free to PM me with details. We also have a weekly pool session in Glasgow on a monday night which we would love to see more divers at. Enjoy the blue (or should I say the murky green??)

I have just joined this forum in the hopes of finding someone to freedive with in St Abbs on the east coast. I live in edinburgh and go there quite a lot but always solo. I would like to train for better depths and times but I dont really feel comfortable pushing limits on my own.
I would love to hear from anyone that wants to freedive around St Abbs or Eyemouth. its a great area for it. The vis is often 8m or more, lots of life and walls etc.

cheers
Tom

Hey Tom, I am going to be living in Durham come September and would love to meet up and have a dive there!

Cheers

Cool. let me know when you are up for it. There is a seal colony nearby at Burnmouth and a dive shop there does rib trips out to it. Its only about 5m deep so a great snorkel or scuba...the seals were pretty friendly later last year, so september should be good!
