Hi A,

Crystal Clear Apnea are out spearing on the West Coast from April and the team will be out to Edinburgh as well,PM us and i'll fire over some dates when we are going over to Bute as well ! :)

Crystal Clear Apnea - find us facebook.

Good luck - who are what is Crystal Clear? Don't know anything about an organisation in Scotland - any info appreciated.

hi there is actually a Scottish Freediving organisation called funny enough Freediving Scotland we run training sessions an do trips all this in a nice atmosphere our website is currently under construction. crystal clear apnea as far as we know is a Facebook page run by a single freediver it is good for talking to other freediver but not a Scottish organisation per SE. if you want more info on Freediving Scotland pm me.
Some of us do spear fish but it is not the focus of the organisation, also spear fishing features during our weekend trips.
Go luck and stay safe

Sorry Weechimpy! I was aware of Freediving Scotland.
What I really meant was I wasn't aware of a spearing specific group in Scotland.
Unfortunately I'm down in SE so a bit far away to join your training sessions but it would be great to meet up with you guys at some point for a dive.
It certainly looks like there are increasing no.s of freedivers around
which can only be a good thing. Local coaches AIDA or other would be a great benefit here I think but I heard some time ago that this was being looked at by some in your group?

Cheers

Grant

HI Grant
Yes we are actively promoting and there are small groups forming all over the country.
We are sponsoring one of our best divers to become an instructor so hopefully this will happen soon, in the mean time we are sending people south of the border to get qualification but to be honest a number of our group have opted to go to sunny climate to qualify. Good reason to get a holiday:)

If you are ever up in scotland give us a shout.
Cheers

Hey guys, I'll likely be heading over to the Kyles of Bute in the spring (tighnabruaich/Kames), any of you guys in this area or ever speared around there?

Cheers

Hi All,

And to Wee Chimpy,Crystal Clear Apnea is based firmly in Scotland and is not one freediver, far from it in fact. Please PM for all details etc.We are a registered professional business.

Regards Joe Rai.

Director of Crystal Clear Apnea.

Crystal Clear, I'll answer your PM here as you specifically mentioned Scotland in your PM.

I don't really have any views on the matter. But I will say this generally.

I practice one specific martial art, but there are hundreds that go on where I live. All have differing elements, some good characteristics, some bad, in my opinion some are better than others. Other individuals may think differently to me, but thats ok. I'm only responsible for myself, my views and what I teach. I give the most honest information I have on my website and my marketing materials, and I leave it to the general public to make their own decisions on what martial art they do. Mine or another. Some people are happy with their decisions and others find its not for them. It works both ways.

But bear in mind your marketing materials are also your online posts. So if you come across as aggressive or pushy, the ordinary people of Scotland may make unfair assumptions about you.

You cannot force anyone to a specific standard, all you can control is your own standard. And if you lead by example and interact with people sensibly, politely, professionally and with authority I'm sure your business will thrive - through word of mouth if nothing else.

Frankly that is basic business acumen, for freediving, or martial arts or anything really.

Totally agree with Bobdonny - personal responsibility is the key and people should feel free to access whatever training, or not, they feel relevant. Any training, awareness or knowledge improvement is great - doesn't really matter how it's branded really.

How about we open a shiny new 2012, politics free, thread :)

I'll use my awesome powers to sticky it if you like ;)

Go for it. I'm getting myself a Go Pro so will ensure I keep the 2012 thread updated with all those 6 lb plaice, 15lb Pollack and 10lb Bass that I'm just so bored of seeing ;-)

Cheers

Grant

Mostly in my dreams Joe :) however as you know we do have some great areas for hunting up here and a 10lb Bass prob isn't an impossibility.

Im pretty sure its not the Fife coast anyway! Just ballan wrasse and tiny pollack there. Serious quantities of lobsters though...A bit of a faff to get them out of their holes by day, but at night they run about on the sandy bottoms.
