Ah yes, file size may well be, the Mb size won't be a problem but the pic could well be above the dimension limits Dave mentions.

Open the pic on your computer using some editing software, you should have something that will do the job, like Paint, or Paint Shop Pro, or Photoshop etc etc. Try to find "resize" in the menus and get the pixels below 1024 height and width.

Magpie, i don't recall it being any more or less slimey than any other mullet.



 
Well done Gsyrider! Many people are put off eating mullet but it can be as good, or better than bass, depending how it's cooked, IMHO.

Attached is ( half of) the 300 lb shark Foxfish was talking about yesterday, of which I just bought a slice to stick on the barbie tonight, together with some mackerel

Funny, usually when i see that fish counter on a thursday evening it's empty.. now there's a bloody great big shark sitting there.

maybe that's where all the bass are going rofl

it was about 39cm. i thought it was quite small at first but GG's are often smaller aren't they? nice size for one
 
As an example, the rod caught record for thick lips is nearly 12lbs, GG record is only just 3lbs.
 
Just need to learn the differances before i take the shot now...

First of all, i'll avoid anything that's bigger than the one i shot on Saturday since that's unlikey to be a GG
 
The ones I have seen look sleeker in the water, the gold spot on the cheek is not always conspicuous, the normal greys apart from being bigger tend to have fat bellies on them where the GG's don't. hard to spot at normal mullet speed but when you get into a hoal you can see the difference as far as I am concerned (watch me shoot a thick lip next time out!!)
 

I am glad you enjoyed eating your THICK LIP mullet mate. I have written loads about preparation & cooking mullet & it just goes to show what a good eating fish mullet can be. Bass are very popular because their flesh always looks & taste the same, small bass or big bass no matter where it has been caught. Thick lip Mullet on the other hand are not consistent in flavour or texture.
Golden grey mullet eat a less variable diet & therefore tend to be more consistent & relabel in flavour.

Nah, not convinced, comparing lip to eye. We'll never know for sure.
 
The adipose fin? Totally inconclusive from a pic like that, fins bend and move. :t
 
thanks for the night dive Dave and Ed -really enjoyed it.

Have just looked at the pics (first time I've got near a computer since). a lot of blurry ones, but a few gooduns.

A couple of really good vids - that big cuttle you pointed out Dave, and Ed's ray. Anyone know how I can share vid without compressing it to pixel mush like you get on youtube?

Strange how we saw that ray in only 18 inches of water - but that's the same kind of depth I saw the only other one I've seen (in Caswell Bay, Swansea)

I'll post a few pics up when I get a spare half an hour.

If you're up for another before I go back I'm definitely game.

Marco caught a couple of cracking bass on Monday, one was over 8lb but he was more eager to tell me about an unusual experience. He was at one time surrounded by trigger fish, 25 in fact, he counted them!
 
I reckon that boy smells of fish the amount he attracts!
