North Wales, The Llyn and Anglesey 2016

July and still not a single catch posted in the N. Wales thread... eerily quiet on here these days...
Had a mooch about with DR. this weekend, water was better than expected given the wind - lots of mullet around as well as good shoals of micro-bass, far more than we've ever seen before - we saw them breaking the surface at multiple shallow beaches on the peninsular - took a few between us on spinners which was fun. A mix of bass, grey mullet & golden grey mullet taken with guns for the grill - not a bad way to spend the weekend at all.

I'm heading down tomorrow night for a dive but looking at the winds / residual spell I would welcome any advice regarding spots on the east side of Anglesey. Has anyone dived around the great orme? I have to be near Conwy first thing in the morning so planing to night dive and then camp.

got in South lyn Wednesday Viz was under a meter and swell was about 2 ft! After an hour of blundering about into rocks and seeing tails I gave up but had a bass swimming over my gun! Went to north coast and Viz was up to 3M+ however spot only had small pollock and large Wrase although a few micro bass kept coming to investigate. Swell picked up the tide pushed in and I had to come in as I got Sea-sick! Never had this before anyone else experienced it and if so apart from Maning up how can you stop it?
Joe, I don't suffer from seasickness usually however, watching the horizontal movement of a huge kelp bed in a good swell has caused me to chum a number of times. On the occasions it did happen, I clambered out on to a rock (so I was stationary) and focused on something that wasn't moving until the symptoms passed. Failing that, there are a number of anti-emetics that do seem to help such as Kwells but be warned it CAN cause drowsiness (not that you should experience it in a cold wetsuit stinking of fish). Bro used to suffer from seasickness quite badly and he used something similar which helped I think!?

Firstly, you want to get as much pressure off your stomach as possible - make sure you have a stretchy rubber weights belt - not a horrible, non-stretchy one.
Secondly, use a weights vest to take even more weight off your middle - the Mares one is brilliant and costs about £35.
Thirdly, pills, pills, pills. I always keep these in my dive box - have one or two before a rough dive. They've never made me drowsy but be warned, don't have an after-dive beer as you will go straight to sleep!

I went to south Llyn a couple of weeks ago the vis was very good. There was some huge spidercrabs there did not take one though as I don't have a clue how to cook them (any tips BBQ?). Saw quite a few different fish couldn't get close enough to most of them though however I did catch a decent sized Ballan wrasse and took that home to put on the Bbq with plenty of butter and parsley. Looking to go to the same spot in a couple of weeks and maybe get one of those spidercrabs
