Yeah ok cheers denian, although not wild about getting on the next chopper. Little too close for comfort that one as i was on the next flight. It left from the N. Alwyn on friday afternoon with 6 guys from our platform on it. Poor buggers! :(. No flights at moment but on first one back out there when they start up again. I hate flying. I'd rather swim!

Hmm oban. Nice weather? Cape Wrath is nice this time of year too.

Negatory!! just trying to earn some dough to pay for the summer!!
Winter diving is better anyway........summer diving is for sissys!?! :cigar: (ignoring hot showers and a warm van )

You got your 3 mm dug out for those lovely -6 deg air and +6 water night dives? Mmmh :)

3mm!! you sissy! what happened to your rash vest and speedos you were sporting last year?? you've gone south in your old age! ;) You even have a freezer in the back of your pickup now to pre-chill your water for when you get out?? grow a pair man!

Didn't know whether to post this in the Scot, Guernsey or DB meet threads but decided in the end to go for the quietest one - is Scotland in hibernation already?

Defo the craziest soundtrack award...A couple of mates are up around Thurso next week.....worth chucking the kit in for the pollack and lobbers?

Nice contrasting video Grati, I laughed with the music but couldn't cope after a minute or so LOL

I'd say definitely worth a go if the weather plays ball - let us know how you get on.

Hi Folks

I'm new to the sport and looking for a buddy in the north east of Scotland. If anyone has a great deal of patience and is keen to brave the cold winter water please get in touch.

I'm afraid I'm at the other end of the country but there does seem to be quite a few spearos starting in the NE - good luck with it, looking forward to seeing some reports from the NE :)

Here's a quick vid from yesterday's dive

Cool video, where was that filmed? I managed to get out yesterday morning but the visibility was non-existent. It was that bad I struggled to see the notches to load the gun.

Anyone know how I can delete my duplicate posts? I'm using a crap internet connection and for some reason it has posted the same message a few times.

Nice one, Grant - great wee film. You must have been close to your limit when you took the shot?

Nice video. I like the editing. Good visibility too - I dived a week or so ago in Devon, the day after the big storm - it was surprisingly flat & warm but I couldn't see the end of my spear, on my 75cm speargun :(. Fortunately I managed to catch a few mackerel from shore with my bass rod though :)

Can anyone advise of any decent winter spearfishing spots in Scotland? I'm willing to travel if needs must. I've been scoping out a few locations but so far, but I've really only been in the water a couple of times working on my freediving, trying to work out what weight works best for me and how to gauge the impact of the weather conditions on visibility. Has any one tried the north side breakwater wall of Aberdeen harbour? Its quite near to where I live although I'm not too sure how safe it would be or if I would likely see any sea life.

I fancy swimming out from here (more importantly there is a greasy caf' on harbour wall for a fry-up afterwards!), here and possibly (if I can find suitable access) here if you fancy it any time. Never dived any of the above, even know what is there, but plan to at some point. :)
