Hey Gaz that should be good as a new entry in the FOM rofl.

If I did that, Paul would only go out and run over a deer!

You got any hare recipes?

Tony, get rid of those Ice fins mate. Have a look at the Picasso Black fins at DKB Underwater Sports: good foot pockets, various levels of stiffness, and absolutely bomb-proof!

.

Hi Gaz you are right no more ice fins but to tell you the truth I had them for one year without a problem untill I lost one so the new that I ordered where bad and broke both. I already ordered 2 omer millenium blade for £ 12.50 each so they are quite cheap even becouse I have 2 footpocket and I feel very confortable with them.
For the hare try this Recipe:
Rabbit cacciatore Ingredients for 4 people:
A hare, 6 cloves garlic, 1 sprig of rosemary. For the marinade: 1 lt. red wine, 1 medium size onion cut into 4 pieces, coarsely chopped 5 garlic cloves, 4 bay leaves, 50 gr. parsley.Preparation: Peel and cut the hare into small pieces. Prepare a marinade with 1 lt. full-bodied red wine, garlic, onion, rosemary, bay leaf and parsley. Let marinate the rabbit in the marinade at least 6 hours, then drain them, dry and flour them lightly. In a fry pan with oil doing almost 6 garlic cloves, then put the hare and a sprig of rosemary. Fry on both sides, add salt and pour a quarter of the wine used for the marinade. incoperchiate and finish cooking.
If the hare is small you dont need to use 1lt of wine.
Buon Appetito.

Dropped in off the beach today (saving boat action for tommrrow).

First location was a let down with no viz, so I got in the car and headed south! Second location was ideal with good viz lots of life to look at. Plenty of wrasse pollock and a shoal of small bass, loads of spider crabs which I left. Nothing worth shooting today but I did do a few camera tests with the new magic filter which worked a treat and took of the green tinge out of the movies.

Will post one in a bit.

Hi Kev too tired or I would join you.
I been yesterday for a night dive with Kobus we headed Swanage parked the car change and when we saw the brown color of the water we where put off.So I remember about Paul and Gaz where nearby and I tried to call them both no answer so it was a good sign they are into the water. I just drove with the wetsuit on and when we arrived I saw the cars parked another good sign. The water was almost cristal clear I saw the guys and I went there,I was near Gaz float and the stringer was empty but his hands busy with a very nice bass good. Just the time for this enjoyable wiew and I snapped my Omer Ice (again) I wasnt surprised at all and I didnt give a s....! Was a night dive and in a shallow water so I dont need it so I dived for three hours without.I saw Paul and he sad shhhhh! Gaz got a bass so I didnt want disturb that beautiful moment and left to go around. With one fin I felt like a disable but did my dive. Got 2 beautiful lobbys and 2 big spiders,Kobus a fairly size bass about 2-3 lb. We saw a shoal of small bass and they swam with us for about 10-15 minutes we where hoping to see mum and dad bass but they didnt show up. I coudnt get out of the hole a huge lobster with only one claw haa on the way back I also had a scallop. We had a beautiful dive and how funny on the way back almost a budger. I'm looking forward for the next night dive. :friday
Yes, it was a very enjoyable dive Toni, just a shame we couldnt get that one-clawed lobby out of his hole. :headApparently it only takes a few molts for the claw to grow back , so maybe we should go back at the end of the season and try again. :D

PS - Is it just me or is it always a 10 minute struggle to reload a speargun in the dark ?

Kobus

Are we all still thinking of a Open water dive for Tuesday evening club meet ???.

I think Paul Smith mentioned Branksome chine with Kayaks and Boats as cover for something different, any other takers ?

I have a Double Kayak if anyone needs a seat ;-)

I'll bagsy the spare seat Broughy, if you'll have me back!?

Tides are looking perfect for Poole Bay on Tuesday, but the winds are swinging around a bit (it was onshore around 7pm today, chopping the bay up quite a bit). Still, we might get away with it.

I'm due to pick up a trailer for my boat early in the week (just waiting for a phone call). If I've got it in time then I'll get the boat out on the water. If not I'll be in a kayak, like everyone else.

Toni & I should be out in the Bay all day in the boat so can givviz report to Broughy by phone, then hopefully meet you all there about 5.30

Are we heading for Branksome or Durley?

Durley would be best i think, not so many holigans on jetski,s and could also paddle to the pier if needed, unless there are any other sugestions ;-)

Hi all, thinking about coming along again

Is it possible to tie off the kayaks or will we be anchoring them?
+ how deep are these rocks?

I might be tempted to jump in with you broughy, if thats alright. I can grab a double kayak tonight but I'm not 100% sure I'd be able to get back in it- its not a self bailer.

Got in at Worrbarrow bay saturday night & sunday morning, vis was good no decent fish seen, a couple of mullet, small pollack & big wrasse. I stocked up with spider crabs, getting better at handling them but I'm still a big wimp.
+ lost a lobster about a metre deep on clean ground -cant believe how pathetic I was!

I've been working on my float, not pretty but should do the job.

Cheers then
-Sam

Hi Sam,

rocks are about 4m in the shallowist (is that a real word?)

usually use float lines on kayaks so that you can anchor however with a few of us there you can always tie off on someone else's or my boat.

I think someone else has already baged Broughy's back seat so I should grab one fromwork If you can.

See you tuesday;)

Sorry, missed that the seats already taken!

Thanks Paul- I've managed to blag a fishing kayak for the evening, see you guys there. I might park at Branksome Dene chine-it could be (slightly) less distance to drag the yak. (From poole you go past Branksome chine carpark and take the next right half way up the hill, then its a right turn off that road a little way down.)

Hi Guys,

I introduced myself a while ago but never actually managed to get to a meet.

I've moved back to the gold coast permanently now but between working in Hedge End til 5pm and living in Christchurch it's not likely I'll be able to get to club nights.

That said I may be home a little earlier tomorrow and with the meet being this end of Dorset I'm thinking of coming down if that's ok?

I'll probably just head down without gear but with dog and say hello, what time do you normally get out and head to the pub?

I'll probably be able to spot a group of guys with spear guns, kayaks and bags of seafood (finger's crossed for you) but if not I'll be the bloke on the beach with a dog that looks like Santa's Little Helper.

Cheers

Brad

Had a nice day out with Paul S. today went to Portland area the sea was flat and calm lots of fishes around got about 5 mullett each plus one bass each plus a huge edible crab and one lobster claw roflthe rest still in the hole and doesnt want to come out. Paul had also some nice scallops for the starter.I hope he tried the recipe that i told him with breadcrumb, very nice!! See you all tomorrow.:friday

Looks as though I won't make it tomorrow - work issues (yes, I do work, occasionally).

.

Hi Gaz, how did you cook your hare?

Coincidence - we just finished eating it about 30 mins ago.

Cooked it similar to how you said, with red wine marinade, but using more of a traditional French/English recipe (not sure which): cloves, bay, all-spice, red wine, onions, bouquet garni, carrots (my addition). Marinade, coat in seasoned flour and fry in duck fat to seal, casserole in chicken stock for 2.5 hours with some of the marinade, make a roux to thicken, adding a bit more wine and some redcurrent jelly, as well as a cup of hares blood (which I didn't have, as I'd already thrown it away).

Tasted ok (the missus liked it more than I did). Don't think I'll be running over another one though, if I can help it - not the biggest fan of game.

Might go for a cat next time!

Hi Brad,

you are more than welcome - doesn't matter If your are late as the chaps turn up at different times from 5.30 onwards. Normally get out about 8.30 & head for a pub - keep in touch with Broughy for pub location. If you are not already on his text list, PM him your mobile number as he kindly sends out club location updates.

Does your dog have Antlers or a green hat?

see you later:)
Paul

Cheers Paul, will do. Leaving home now so may bring my wetsuit and gun and a mate to hold the dog.

P.S. The Santa's little helper I meant was of The Simpsons variety, not the Lapland type.
