Hi guys
Yeahhh it was a nice dive, another new spot for me to explore and very very sheltered one,no much fish seen though.

My spider crabs :delicious,scrumptious,what-a-taste,a delicacy, yammy. My wife(welsh by the way) did a linguini with spider crab that even Tony would be proud off.
The spider crab season finishes soon so guys get the river cottage book and follow the recipe, well worthy, believe me.
Next tuesday still good for me ,see you all

Ok mate if you say so,I'm invited for the next linguini party?:)

In again this evening, along the Purbecks. A few very large bass seen (seen a fraction of a second too late, unfortunately), as well as some smaller bass - took one home circa 2.5lbs.

These northerlies are producing some excellent viz along the coast at the moment.

.

P.S: I've tried that River Cottage spider crab linguine recipe, and even I thought it tasted good - very sweet - and I don't like crab, ordinarily.

Good effort Gaz,

Do you reckon the vis will hold out over the weekend?

Off to Portland today to buy some new fins, after losing one on wednesday.

Ash

Hey Gaz the recipe that you mentioned to me was exellent didn't tried to do it but similar way we use to do linguini.
Paul I know they are good but is not on the menu mate just for some friends with a preorder :t.

Should do mate. Wind guru is predicting northerlies until Saturday, before the wind starts to swing around a bit on Sunday, but it's not a strong wind at that point, so should be ok. You can keep an eye on it yourself at WindGURU: Weather forecasts for windsurfing, kitesurfing and other wind related sports (although it's not set in stone, and is always liable to change).

We are heading towards spring tides now, so there will be a bit more movement of water, but it shouldn't stir things up too much - just go for a spot that has had offshore winds for a while and everything should be rosy (well, judging from what I saw yesterday, anyway).

.

Thanks Gaz, Not sure where i'm going to go yet. Any ideas? you dont have to answer that one.

Ash

In again this evening, at the spot I was at last night. Nothing about, so decided to drift down the coast, on the tide, to an exit point I about a mile or so away. About half way down I started bumping into quite a few bass between the 3-5lb + mark.

Managed to fluff just about every shot! Did get the spear into a bass about 4lb: he rolled over and descended into the weed and I thought I had a fish to take home. When I went down to retrieve him he wasn't there - god knows where he went.

Came home fishless - how did I manage to miss so many opportunities at decent fish?!!!

I guess some days luck is just against you.

In this morning with Stew (poolewanderer) at a spot of his choice, Vis was great. Didn't see many fish where i was but stew saw quite a few mullet and a bass, i saw one bass but was out of range. I decided to go and try over by some rocks and on the way there was alot of sandy patches so scouted them out for any flatties, i looked down and i saw something out of place, it looked liked 2 googly pebbles with a curved slit behind so dived down to it and when i got closer i could see the outline of the fishes head, i didnt want to scare it off so i speared it, followed the spear down and grabbed the other end so the fish couldnt escape, it looked as though the body was never ending. Once i had secured it, i swam to the surface to check out this lovely specimen of a sole. It weighed in at 3 and a half lb.
First ever sole for me.

Ash,

3.5lb sole is a lovely fish! Good effort mate!

Enter it on fish of the month - it's a winner! :friday

Looks like there are some decent sole in our area at the moment - might be a good time to organise a club night dive?

Cheers guys
Had the sole on the bbq yesterday, absolutely smashing, got 8 nice fillets from it. Anyone diving tomorrow?

Went out with Paul and Gaz yesterday we visited some very nice spots with big rocks endless holes the visibility was great 8 mt + no very fishable day just one decent size bass taken. we saw many different fishes but nothing worth to take home a part the bass. Enjoyable day above all.

Ringstead looks as good as anywhere else for club dive tomorrow: winds offshore, rising tide . . .

Just as long as yesterday's weather didn't blow it out too much - can anyone get an eyeball on that area today/tomorrow?

I think we should go for it - and if it's poor, move on to somewhere else (just let the guy in the car park know that we want to have a look before we pay!).

Let's call it as Ringstead for the club dive, unless otherwise advised.

Thoughts?
