I wish I could have been there! Maybe next year.
I'm glad to see all went well, but I really wish the results were in a readable format. After some time I still have no understanding of any of the results in CWT/CNF, no depths are listed and many results are just blank. All I want to see is what the announced depth (m) was, and what was the realized depth. I don't care about the top time, warm up time, points scored, etc...

if you dont go into the water 45 minutes before you are still warm during your dive with a 3mm.
i was judge in water for three hours with a 5mm without being cold.
It was a great competition as usual. Cold water - warm atmoshpere.
Awsome! i must try, i dive in almost the same temperature, but i use a 6.5 mm! i use to stay much more time, but i will try staying less time and being more comfortable, al least for training. ( i tryed to do CNF with the 6.5 mm and is really tireing ) thank you very much...(i'm PMing you)
Nordic deep was my first competition, so I dont have much to compare with, but from my perspective it was a great competition. You get more than one opportunity to do your performance in every disipline in a very friendly and "non-competitive" environment.
It is in Scandinavia, but is it expensive? No. The competitionfee is very reasonable. And you can stay in the competitionhouse for around 12 euros pr night, make your own food and buy Sebastians mothers vegetarian dinner for only 6 euros.
One of the reasons why this competition is so cheap is that Sebastian and the staff work their asses off to pull the whole thing off on a non profit and voluntary basis. They are wonderful idealists who love their sport. So hats off for them!!!!!! Hope to see you next year.

Well mr Fattah, I would like to your skills down there. But don't forget the Y factor. Y = Yelly fish.
I used a 3mm HD suit, and dove to 61m in FI, 57 in CW, and 35 in CWNF. For me there is not going to be any in-water 'warm up dives' because I cool too quickly and affect my buffers and flexibility too much. It's a big factor in increesing chances to a BO at the surface. Besides, getting 5 min before OT in water gives me a great contrast of warm and cold, a strong DR.

This is my second experience in the Swedish Nordic Deep. This time my expectations were higher than the previous time, mainly because the previous time was already so good and many know that memories have a tendency to rember the most brilliand experiences the best. This years ND was again wonderfull. I love the stay in the house with 50 athletes, about 8 researching doctors, the varried vegetarian good food. I love the green forrest hilly grassy and rocky land with the clean fresh sea breeze. The increddeble voluntears who help out us athletes in every possible way and while we prepair or rest do the heaps of logistical wonders behind the sceenes. ND has grown to hold 50 athletes, a very nice size because it allows to build and expand the relations that devellope during this long week of sharing thoughts and deep
experiences. To me it feels like a nice and natural and logistical handleble size. Though I got the impression that Sebastian may want ND to grow even bigger I think this change will take the big family feeling away an important thing that I would mis very much.

In Vancouver we also have stinging red jellyfish. In fact during the 2004 Nationals, when I did 74m without any wetsuit, I ran straight into a giant red jelly fish on the way down. I couldn't feel anything due to the vasoconstriction, but after I got out and warmed up, of course it hurt for a while

Man, we are not talking about "hurting for a while"... we are talking about serious effects on the whole body.

I took a hit from a huge Lion's mane here in Norway just a few weeks back. I was wearing a full length suit but had no gloves or socks on.
I was in the process of avoiding a much smaller lion's mane which caused Me to swim into the mothership.
When I actually noticed it the bell was resting on My head and My entire body was entangled in its tendrils. looking down I couldn't see any part of My body or fins, just 20 feet or so of tendrils.
My face, heels and wrist were burning like hell for 8 hours straight.
I'm only glad that I was wearing a suit.

I had contact with 2 pretty jellyfishes in my face at the first competition day. The first one kissed my face (right site) on the way down to the bottom. The second was over the left site and the lips a few minutes later.
But I thought the bad and dizzy feeling was coming from my disappointment about my lost dive... 4 days later and I saw Martin and Jonas and I recognized it was from the "burning kisses".
I can be happy, that I was using my sphera and not my pipemask

As evil as they are... You are not going to encounter one on a WR attempt, providing the surface is monitored.
Lion's manes on the other hand appear in the depths out of nowhere like sub aquatic ninjas.
its no longer recommended for treating jelly stings, neither is vinegar. truth is... feck all works on jellyfish stings.
i had a face to face or rather face to jelly encounter with a lion's mane here in vancouver back in july. i was approx 80cm diameter bell and lurking at about 5m deep in approx 10m of water.
it happened about a month ago approx 400m off jericho beach, when the visibility was about 40cm max due to blooms and silt. i saw it as i ran into it. luckily i think much of the longer tentacles had been damaged in the wave action in the shallow water, so i wasn't stung too bad.
two days later i got a nasty sting on the back of my calf in the same location but this time i never saw the jelly/ninja that got me (vis was still 20cm).
not fun at all. i had jellys on the brain for a couple weeks after that and they loomed large, lurking just behind the shadows of each dive.

Hmm, yes a bit alarming that the ND thread emerged into a jelly fish discussion. Some days there are none, some days many. We have someone clearing the line down to 20 if needed.
I seldom encounter jellies deeper than 20-25. I do try to remmeber putting fat grease in my face - looks stupid but works. We should actually have that in the startpackage.
I have done some of my best dives in this little cove. I did a 51 meter CNF NR here in a 1 mm shorty once. The chill really helps you - Eric F would kick ass here - but he should save the little money he has for WR attendance, I think.
This year I was part of one of the comps and did a 50 CNF with a 2mm open cell Elios. One can dive deep here if one have the guts for the darkness and use the temperature to ones advantage. We saw a 72 FIM NR.
I understand we are not receiving any goodwill points for the resultslist. Due to a missunderstanding no one was really designated for the job. The Aida excel sheet will soon be distributed.
Benny, Fattah might have an excuse (living in Canada), but for you with so cheap flights between London and Gothenburg....
Expectations are rising. Should we grow and loose the family feeling? There are still things to improve before even thinking about volume. Boats and warm-up facilities was not optimal, safety lacked (tell you later). Resultslists, crowded house, too few social activities, better possibilities fort the "friends, relatives, hang arounds".
We will raise prices. We need to by another bargelike boat and have more resources for the personell (we did not even have a catering person for the judges/team).
